When I did a search for this I was surprised that I didn’t find much. Anyway, I teach a Jr. High drum line and I've always had the problem of getting some good sticks that work well for our indoor season. They perform in a gym that is very booming and loud. I've tried a few different sticks with them but haven’t really found something that works yet. They play on Yamaha 13' SFZ snares, and pearl tenors. If you guys have any ideas I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!

Obviously an indoor stick would probably suit them well. Have you tried the Ralphie Jr.? That is the smallest indoor stick that VF has. If those haven't worked try a beefy concert stick like the 2B or the Metal CM or Rock sticks.

I have talked to several instructors that recommend the Tim Fairbanks sticks from Innovative Percussion. They aren't real heavy and they are well balanced. I like the sticks myself for middle schoolers. As for tenor and basses, the Innovative Percussion Arena Series does a nice job.

Same thing with me, id probably go with the ralphies on the snares and maybe vega's with the tenors, we used vega's for our marching show this year and you get a pretty good sound with them.

I'd have to agree with them. I'd go with ralphies they are a good and well balanced stick. I would use them for your snares and your tenors. But for your basses I would go to vic firth's web site and look at them there. They have some indoor sticks for basses there as well as for snares and tenors.

I'm not a real fan of the ralphie jr.s but for a junior high line it's probably a good stick to use. Vega's definetly a good stick for tenors. Here is just an idea to throw out there for your snares. Check out the Piccolo tips from thom hannum. And the thom hannum indoor stick. both are from vic firth

use the tom aungst's indoor stick for the snares or even the tom hannum outdoors. its just a smaller version of the field. for tenors use the, MT1A-S. even though most lines use them for outdoor, they still sound awesome indoor. and for the basses, use the indoor IMB10's.

I don't like the Vega tenor sticks at all. For some reason it feels like it's harder to clear the rim. I'd use an actual mallet. MT1AS are what we use, and I love them.

i love the vegas and i think you should get those for your tenor players. they are a lot longer than most tenor mallets, so they should help the kids get around the drums more easily.
ralph hardimon indoor for snares. i like innovative percussion bass mallets,i dont know how they would be for indoor, but you should check them out

I like all of the Innovative products so this should work out pretty well I would think.
