I haven't had a lot of experience with Dynasty drums, but from what I've heard they don't tend to last very long. Our college has had Pearls for 8 years now, which granted is far too long, but they've held up very well.

Dynasty sound great, but Pearl will give you a little more durability.

There you go, dude. There's no reviews on both those Snares yet, but there's a little info there on them.

My personal take on it? Pearl. I've heard them on a few WGI Drumlines, and they sound GORGEOUS. Absolutely great. From what I've heard, they're extremely durable. I'd go with Toe on this one.

Our high school is mraching with a full dynasty drumline, and they have held up very well. WE have had these drums for going on 3 years now, and to the best of my knowledge we have only had one bass drum head replacement and the bottom head of a snare was replaced. The snares give a very short, crisp sound cuts through everything, and the bass drums can beat it out like nobody's business. My opinion: definitly go Dynasty.

That's a great review of how heads hold up on Dynasty drums.

I agree with Toe, Dynasty is the bottom of my list in the durability department, even below Premier. They have good customer service though, trust me you'll need it.

Pearl products in my experience have held up exceptionally, due to their simplistic design. The sound is great too, but that's a matter of tuning preference.

If you want some horror stories about how Dynasty products can go south, PM me.

Durability, here's my order:
1.Pearl
2.Yamaha
3.Premier
4.Dynasty

I've never used Ludwig, nor have any desire to.

Whoa...Dynasty under Premier?!? Sorry but I have to disagree there. My HS marches Premier, and I tried out at United Percussion who also marches premier and I'd have to say that they're the biggest pieces of .... that i've ever laid hands on. I've got a set of Dynasty sextets and I'd take them anyday over Premier...

In terms of snares, I've heard of the Dynasty top rim cracking, but also that the company replaces it with no problem at all. Personally I prefer the look of Pearl snares over Dynasty, but sound-wise I like Dynasty. I think it's a large amount of personal preference.

Dynasty does have one thing Pearl doesn't: Double snares.

Pearl has interchangeable shells, and its really easy to do it as well. Maple, Carbonply, and I've been told from one of the Namaky's that birch shells are available special order.

Pearl's are very durable and easy to maintain, and you can't go wrong with them.

As far as Dynasty being below Premier, I think thats a bit of a stretch.

why is that a stretch, he obvously had issues with Dynasty. I'm the same with Ludwig.

I'm with Pearl: good price, durable, great sound, well engineered, and you can customize your drums.

as far as the double snare unit. i think the fad is fading. some corps stop using them (BD, Glassmen, Madison) and the ones that did have them hardly used them.
