The team making up YogiBoo has been pretty quiet this season. After all the ruckus caused by last season's Division 1 co-champion, the corps decided to take the more "passive" and "silent" approach this season.
"We really
dont even know what we are playing this season, all we know is that we keep winning!" said corps director, Mark Bernal.
"We really feel that the corps is much much stronger than last year," he said, "especially with the addition of some members from The Velcro Knights."
After last years solid performance in Division 2 by the organizations junior corps The Velcro Knights, it was decided unanimously by the board of directors to "unite" the two corps and form this season's YogiBoo Fantasy Drum and Bugle Corps.
The result? "We seem to be continuing right where we left off from last season" said Assistant Corps Director Johnny Damon.
After a slow start this season, the corps has worked hard to produce 7 wins in a row, including 1st place at the
DLO Midwest Region Championships.
"We're really proud of the kids, especially the way they were able to hold off some of the other regional rivals."
Surging this season are the Guardsmen, Sparkle! and The Brassiers. All three corps challenging YogiBoo for the top spot in the midwest.
Up next for the corps is the 2nd Annual Lakeshore Spectacular!. This year, the show is going to be held at the newly renovated Soldier Field on beautiful Lake Michigan.
The star studded show will feature perrenial powerhouses DC Scandals, VK Star, The Brassiers, The Guardsmen and this year's surprise corps, The Engineers!
"We were so suprised at how quickly this show filled up!" said Bernal, "So surpised and caught off guard, that we forgot to register ourselves for competition!"
More changes are in store for YogiBoo, with more heated competition coming up.
So what about the competition "trash talking" YogiBoo and boasting a top ranking? "Its ok. We'll just do our thing and go for that second ring"
