I think there was a handful of guys that came with Float from Spirit, including Nat Barouch.

Yep, you called it. :P Maybe we should try something else?

That's it - thank you. I think I got Kim from Dave Oster mentioning her when we were at Iowa together. Dave was in SCV's snare line in 1989, third from the left and Kim something was on the far left.

In the late 90s, a fistfight broke out between two DCI div. 1 drumlines coming out of retreat because of one of the lines' traditions of being the first off the field. Which corps and what year?

OK, this is the question still unanswered - anyone? I have no idea; I was kind of 'out of it' in the '90s.

I don't know, and it really doesn't make much sense to me. Traditionally, corps left the field in reverse order of placement. If a corps had a tradition of leaving first, that would mean they had a tradition of placing last -- not something to be particularly defensive about.

I'm not sure how things work with the current retreat format, but if memory serves, the present format was introduced in the late 1990s. It kinda pinches the time frame for a corps to develop a "tradition" of leaving first as stated in the question.

Ok, I don't think anyone is going to get closer than that. It was bluecoats and crossmen. Kap4life, it's all you.

Do you have any more back story on that? I'd love to hear what happened.

Crossmen's drumline started leaving retreat before it was over so that they could the first off. As they were going to the gate, a bluecoats bass player tried to push ahead of them and knocked into of of the Crossmen. Then it just broke out into a fight. After a show later in the season, the staffs of either corps made the drumlines have snack together and all was well wink

Some details might be off, since I heard the story a few months ago, but that's about what happened.
