Well, after days of slaving over the computer to get the schedule I created into database format, Josh(DLWebmaestro) and I have come up with something finally ready to release. Behold the DLOFDC Season 2 TOUR SCHEDULE . Now, this is what the schedule will be for this summer, but you will have to select no more than 27 shows for your tour. Once we hammer out a few kinks in the program, we will release a link to where you actually will pick your 27 shows for the season. Its a nifty script just like picking your captions when you first submitted your corps. If you look at the link that is posted here, you will see that the shows are linked. If you click on a link, you will see the actual show with captions. Once you submit your tour schedule, your corps name will automatically fill into the shows you picked...along with other corps. SO you can go back anytime you want to see how the shows are filling out. Also, once the season gets underway, we will be posting the results, and this is where you will go to see the Fantasy show results. Familiarize yourself with the schedule and make a plan of the shows you want to attend. Keep these things in mind while planning your tour:

1) Make sure the tour flows. Nothing like being at a California show one day, then a Massachusetts show the next day. That will not work. Factor in a max driving time from day to day of about 10 hours.

2) You can start your tour wherever you want. Just make sure it flows into the Regional Championship and the Orlando, Allentown and Indianapolis Regional. Even if you are an East corps, you can start out West. Again, just make sure the tour flows and that it flows into finals week in Denver, CO.

3) Pick NO MORE than 27 shows. You can have less than 27 shows if you want, but 27 is the maximum. If you have a Div 1 corps, DO NOT factor the Regional Championships, Orlando Regional, Allentown Regional, Masters of Summer Music Games in Murfreesboro or Indianapolis Regional into your 27 shows. Those are automatic shows. Same with the finals week shows in Denver.

4) Since the Div 1 Regionals in Orlando and Allentown will be two day events, you do not need to pick which day you want to attend. We will assign corps to each day. We will notify or edit your schedule to reflect which day you will be competing at.

5) If you are a Div 2 or 3 corps, you will be required to attend the Div2/3 Regional in Oklahoma City, OK. Just like Div 1, you will be assigned to either day 1 or 2. We will edit your schedule to reflect that. Also, on the days that Div 1 has a regional in Orlando, Allentown or Indianapolis, those will be automatic days off for your corps. This applies to Div 2 and 3 only.

6) With the large amount of corps that entered, we decided to add a Div 1 prelims at finals week. That will narrow the field from 35 to 24 corps going into quarter-finals.

7) The same will go for Div 2 and 3. Each Division will have a prelims to narrow the field down to 18 in Div 2 and 12 in Div 3. Those placing in that bracket will advance to Div 2/3 Finals. From there, the top 3 corps from Div 2 and 3 will get into Div 1 Quarter-finals. Whoever is the highest placing Div 2 and 3 corps at quarterfinals will be declared the winner and awarded the prize.

8) Finally, there will be caps to the amount of corps allowed to compete at each show. We dont want one or two shows heavily attended while other shows are scare with competitors. So here is the break down with each division showing the maximum amount of corps allowed for competition:

Div 1 - 6 corps per show
Div 2 - 5 corps per show
Div 3 - 4 corps per show

Feel free to make any changes you want to your tour schedule...however the deadline for making changes is June 15th. After that, you will be locked in with the scheduled you picked for the season.

Dude, I just tried to choose my schedule and it says that I'm signed up for 15 shows but I'm only signed up for five and it won't let me go any further than the first week now. What's goin on????

I have to say that this is not a good way of entering the schedule. Without seeing the "big picture" it is extremely difficult to plan a route. Can we see the full schedule listed in one place so we can plan our tour better?

Also, you cannot change your schedule after you select it?

Any ideas?

in the first post in this topic there is a link that lets you see the entire schedule at one time. I would suggest having that window open to look at the big picture while you choose your schedule with the other feature.

The reason it shows you signed up for more shows than you really are is because you hit the back button and went back and edited your schedule. Wait until the end to edit what you choose and this will not be a problem. You have signed up for more than one show on the same day.

You can edit your schedule but not until you enter in a full schedule. When you get to the end of the process you can change which shows you are attending or completely clear your schedule and start over.


I am sorry that some of you don't like the way this is being done. We are new at this process just like most of you are new to fantasy drum corps. If you will be patient with us then we will overlook the griping about how it is not perfect the first time around. We are trying to make this as user friendly as possible while also making it as automated as possible so that Bernie and the rest of us don't have to enter everything in by hand like we did during season 1. This is a constant work in progress so please be patient and follow your mom's advice: if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all (or at least in this case use PM's to make suggestions or file complaints)

It probably would have been helpful for everyone to have had the link to the entire tour displayed a little more prominently in the first post, or at least featured with the links to the scheduling of the corps post.

The way I did it was 1) have the tour schedule open in one browser window, 2) have a map of the US open in another browser, 3) have mapquest open in another browser so that I could see what city is where in whichever state, and 4) a peice of paper to jot down my schedule. Then after I was done, I went back and input the entire schedule at once.

Mike - You need a map? Don't they teach geography in school anymore?

Are the corps required to attend the regional championships of their area or can they attend a different regional? i.e a midwest corps attending the Eastern DLO Regional.

You will be required to attend your regional championship. So if you are from the East, then you will attend the East Championships. The Orlando and Eastern Classic Regionals are required for all Div 1 corps, along with the Indianapolis show, however you will be assigned a day for the Orlando and Allentown Regionals. These DO NOT count for part of your max 27 shows.

Either way, you are automatically assigned to your Regional Championship.

It will not let me add shows after the Allentown competition it just says none and will not let me charge it. I have only 18 shows so far.

When I was doing my schedule it automatically selected the south regional for me based on my corps hometown.

Tassadar the best thing I can tell you to do is clear your schedule and start over. I wish I had a beter answer than that. I would suggest emailing dlwebmaestro. He wrote the script so he can probably help you.

I never payed any attention to what's where on the east coast

How do you clear the schedual? I wrote it down so everything is good I just have to get it in there.

view your corps schedule, and there will be a link at the top to clear it.

Go to your division's forum. At the top of the forum listing will be a list of active corps for the season. Click it to view the list.
Now, click your corps to view your captions, and there will also be a link to view your schedule. Click "View Schedule"
At the top of your listed schedule will be a link titled "Clear your Schedule"

That's it.

If it lists just a week full of "none" that it because you submitted that week already, and then tried to go back. Submit means submit. Your full view schedule has links to make changes for a reason.

If everyone would just follow the directions and flow of the process, things will go much smoother for you.

If not enough people sign up for a date, will the corps signed up automatically be moved to another date? Or will the show go on? I guess what I am getting at is, what is the minimum number of corps that can attend a show?

I came up with those numbers so that competitions WON'T be "under-corpsed". For days that consist of six competitions we will have:

5 competitions with 6 Div1 corps
1 competition with 5 Div1 corps

6 competitions with 5 Div2 corps

5 competitions with 4 Div3 corps
1 competition with 2 Div3 corps
or
4 competitions with 4 Div3 corps
2 competitions with 3 Div3 corps

Keep this in mind when you make your schedule as well...

Giving the following example:

On 07-06 you want to participate in a show in California.
On 07-07 the only show available is a show in New York.

Given such circumstances, which will occur from shows closing as they reach the maximum number of corps allowed, it is highly suggested to take the second day off. Your other option would be to take the first day off. Remember, taking a day off will not hurt you, and you do not need to attend the maximum number of shows allowed (27).

As mentioned before:
Keep the schedules realistic.

Maybe you should tell the corps that have the mistake you mentioned...They might have accidently clicked the wrong show. I know I did that at least once, but managed to catch it.
