The Guardsmen Vanguard Drum & Bugle corps, often abbreviated as GV, will begin their first season of the drum corps activity in DIV 2 this summer. The corps is hoping for a good year, having the "A" corps placing 5th at finals last year. GV would like to offer the same world class power to younger less experienced kids this summer. The staff and show selections are under way and will be released soon!

"It could have been better," said corps director Ryan Galasso after the corps placed 3rd in W. Lafayette last night. "It was great to go to a competition with the Guardsmen and be the "Little Brother" for a day. Our performance had some rough spots in it but we will have them fixed by the end of the next week hopefully." The corps competes in Toledo tonight. We would love to see you there.

The corps placed first at the Toledo competition yesterday. With a score of 69.80! " I am really pleased with both of our corps right now. They are playing at the best level possible, and I love their intensity. They are really striving for some championships", said corps director Ryan Galasso after the corps scores were finally released. " I love the whole corps attitude and vibe I get from both of them. they are really happy to be where they are and that shows in what kind of a performance we put on. I am happy with the corps and I would like to encourage every one to come and see us.

The Guardsmen Vanguard continue their mercy less prowl through DCI Div 2 with a score of 70.35! The corps blew their way to a second straight win and take a spot in Div 2's top 10 corps! "The corps is playing with so much heart right now and I love it alot a lot. They take pride everything they do, and every time they step onto that field, win or lose," said corps director Galasso. "I couldn't be happier with the corps, unless we were in 1st, but that is out of my reach right now. We have the day off tomorrow, and I would like to see you guys make the trip to Orlando on Wednesday to see the corps perform!"

As they scores finally came in from several days ago, the Guardsmen Vanguard are on a rampage in Div 2! Although a poor performance last night got them third place at Memphis Tennessee. The Vanguard were on a 5 competition winning streak with scores of 69.8, 70.35, 75.6, 76.2, 74.85, and a 3rd place score yesterday of 72.65! "I am extremely happy for the corps," said director Ryan Galassso today at rehearsal. "They have been competing so well recently and rehearsing so hard. It shows in their performances." The corps next performance is tomorrow in Amherst. Come out and support the 3rd ranked Guardsmen Vanguard!

"I was disgusted with them", said corps director Ryan Galasso after the percussion sections poor performance last night in Amherst, Ma. The corps put up a 73.45 and a 9 in percussion! "How pathetic is that! Our percussion was doing great and then they totally lost their focus and it hurt the corps bad last night. We had a hot at taking that competition and the #1 spot in Div." The Guardsmen have another show tonight and they encourage that you come out and support them.

"It seems that they are getting worse," said corps director Ryan Galasso after being asked about another poor percussion performance. The percussion put up an 8! The rest of the corps made up for the slack the percussionists made by scoring a 34 in GE and a 17.4 in brass! They final score from the show was a 74.10. "But think how much better it would have been if the battery had played well," said Galasso. The corps performs tonight in Brunswick. Come and support the Guardsmen Vanguard.

The Guardsmen Vanguard have performed two shows since the last article of Vanguard News was released. On Thursday the corps had their best performance of the year with a 76.30. The percussion finally got it together somewhat and put up a 13.1. The only part of the show that lacked was our visual category. On Friday the corps put up a 75.95 in Washington Dc. The percussion has their act together now as they put up a 14.1. "Although our percussion played well our brass score fell a little over a point. We have hit a slow part in the season. The corps was getting better and better but we hit a black hole recently," said corps director Ryan Galasso. the corps is back in action tonight in Springfield along with the Guardsmen. So come out for the show and get a two for one price.

The press has been slacking on the updates for the Guardsmen Vanguard and we apologize. The corps has had 3 performances since the last review was published. On the 3rd the corps was in Washington DC and scored a 76.35. The 5th they were in South point Ohio and put up a 76.5. And last night they scored 76.55 at Manchester, their best of the season so far. "Were going nowhere right now," said Ryan Galasso. "We have hit a dry spell and are not getting better. I feel that the corps isn't giving 100% in rehearsal like they did at the beginning of the year." The corps play in Elizabeth New Jersey tonight. Come out and support them.

The Guardsmen Vanguard have also performed three shows since the last article of Vanguards news was released. On the 7th the corps put up a 76.70 due to an absolutely horrible percussion performance. "Things were going good up until the Clemson, SC competition. Then our percussion just fell to crap. They have been horrid ever since. There's nothing we haven't tried to get them better. I'm very disappointed with them. They are letting the rest of the corps down," said corps director Ryan Galasso. On the 8th corps scored a 76.75, another horrid performance. Things started to clear up for the Guardsmen Vanguard at the DLO Midwest regional in Kalamazoo last night. The corps scored a 78.65, still not great for DLO, but better than these past weeks. The corps looks to mount a turnaround and they would graciously love your support.
