The next several post will be from last years Press. The city in which the corps is located in, lost all of their archives in a fire. The news will now re-publish the article concerning the corps.

Press Release from Guardsmen director Ryan Galasso!

Yesterday was our first performance of this season. I was very pleased with they way our brass played, but I was very dissapionted in our visual performance. Placinig 6th at Amherst, Ma this weekend was a major accomplishment for the corps! The 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8th place corps were seperaed by 1 point! This was a relitivley tough competition and I would like to congradulate VK Star on their win.

The Guardsmen are proud to present their results and comments from the July 12th, and 19th shows. On the 12th the Guardsmen placed 2nd behind Vk Star once again, with a score of 78.95. " I was much more pleased with our Visual performance than the one we performned on opening night," said corp director Ryan Galasso. The corp placed less than one piont from VK. They also took the High Brass and High Music awards." I dont think we are going to make much changes in the show right know." We are making good process and we will see how our results come out.

Tonight the corps placed a dissapionting 6th place. " We played somewhat at our potential but the other corps came ready to play and it showed in the scores," said Ryan. We didnt take high Music this competition like we've had all year, but we did manage to hold on to high brass once again. THey corp is looking for some fine tuning to do before the next contest.

Press release form The Guardsmen

It is in my sadness that I bring you the scores for the Guardsmen's show on the 20th. The corps scored a very low 78.10 (the lowest score except for opening night). "I was extremely disappointed in the way our percussion played,' corps director Ryan Galasso said. "They flat out sucked, and it really hurt the corps." The corps brought home best brass, best GE, and best music. Although the scores balanced out with a percussion score of 12.5! I hope that the drummers get it together for our next competition. "I would like to win one," said Ryan. "I don't want captions, I want a win!"
Hopefully with this new revieved corps spirit the corps will take the field tomorrow at Harrisburg, PA. Come out and support the corps.

Press release from The Guardsmen.

The corps show was much better this evening. The corps put up a 79.35. "Once again our percussion and visual performances were god aweful," said corps director Ryan Galasso. "We're just not good. Hopefully by the next season the corps will get it together and have a great summer training and be physically ready for the challenge. Right now there just inexperienced plain and simple." The corps finished its competition tonight in 6th place. The southern regional championships are this weekend and the corps will see how they rank against all other corps.

Press Release form the Guardsmen!

"The corps keeps getting better and better, but little by little," was a quote taken by corps director Ryan Galasso yesterday. The Guardsmen placed 5th at Baltimore, MD and took the High Brass and GE captions. The corps put up a score of 79.60. ")Our brass section was smoking!" said Ryan. Our visual performance and our percussion dragged us down once again. "We will have to prepare them for the season better next time." Our percussion doesn't have any chances to show what its made of in our show except the solos. We need to spice up our show flavor for next year. I'm going to keep mental note of all performance changes we need to make in order to be the best.

Tonight the Guardsmen Performa at the DLO south Regional and will be performing around the 16th spot. Come out and support the corps!

Press Release from the Guardsmen.

WOW! That was all that corps director Ryan Galasso had to say about the Guardsmen's performance tonight. "They played great," said Ryan. The corps tied for 14th at the South regional with a score of 81.45 (our best of the season). The corps made almost a 2 point jump from last nights performance. "I was very happy with the improvement in our percussion section. That made a difference tonight. Our visual still needs to be roughed out in spots but that will come with some more time." The percussion section improved almost 2 points for yesterday and our visual almost a whole point. "I had to bust out the whip and get the corps in gear," said Ryan. "And it paid off. I am very pleased with the way they played and they should be too." The corps will be performing in Toledo, Ohio tomorrow before another regional on Monday and our home show on Tuesday. Come out and cheer us on.

Guardsmen News!

"I am happy for the corps," said corps director Ryan Galasso in a speech to the press about his corps performance. "We are playing our best that we have ever played, it's not good enough. I'm happy if we play our best and place dead last. It would bother me but not upset me." The corps finished 6th in Toledo tonight with a score of 82.05. The corps brought home High Brass again. "Our visual performance score has held steady for the 3rd straight competition. I think they have turned their corner and will be smoking for the summer season. Or visual ensemble score fell over a whole point thought and our percussion score a whole point too, and that disappoints me. "As a corps we have turned a major corner and are on the uprise in the activity. The corps plays in Indianapolis tomorrow night and then its off to the Midwest regional in Indiana. Then finally the corps will host its home show on the 28th. Show the corps you care and see them perform.

"YES!" was all that corps director Ryan Galasso could say about his corps performance tonight. "Absolutely outstanding," said Ryan. "That was the best show we have ever performance and I am very proud of our young men and women who put forth so much work this week." The corps placed 3rd in Indianapolis with a score of 84.70. The 8th highest score from the night.0 The corps once again brought home high music and the GE trophy is back in our hands also. "I'm loving the way our corps is performing. I'm anxious to see how well they will play tomorrow at the midwest regionals. Tonight was a whole corps effort. Our percussion score rose almost 2 points. Are music ensemble and our visual performance and scores rose a half a point each and our visual ensemble rose 2 points! It was a great effort and I hope the corps keeps up this great attitude and spirit. Tomorrow the corps is at the Midwest regional and then Wednesday it's back to Grove City for the Guardsmen home show.

"Inconstancy!" is all that Ryan Galasso had to say about his corps performance tonight. The corps placed 16th at the midwest regional with a score of 84.05, dropping our total score almost a whole point. "Our percussion and visual ensemble scores are very inconstant. The percussion score fell 1 and a half points form last night, and our visual ensemble another half of a point. "Some parts of our show are great but we have so many little things that need fixed that is hurting our score badly. Its really to late in the season to make any changes show we'll have to keep those in mind for next summer. I wish the corps would keep adding to their hard work every week and not just playing great one week and then forget it the next and then rehearse it for another week and so on. We hope to better prepare the corps during the summer to better the program. We are going to have to find a new person to write our drill for next year and a whole new percussion staff to fix our problems.I hope that we have enough in ourselves to please our home crowd tomorrow night at our home show, and to burn on through the rest of the season.

"The crowd loved it" was what corps director Ryan Galasso explained about the home crowd reaction at the "Central Ohio Classic" tonight. "The corps played the best they had all season" The corps put up an 86.60. And once again brought back the high brass award. The corps percussion and visual performance scores rose almost 2 points each! The only part of the corps score that went own from last night was under the visual ensemble caption and it was only 2 tenths of a point. The crowd gave a extremely positive reaction when the corps was done performing and the corps could hold their heads high after nearly taking 2nd place from YogiBoo. Being only 2 tenths behind them. "The corps has a new spirit in them to finished out the season strong, and I would love to see them make the cut into the finals. It would be a major goal accomplished and the corps deserves it after all their hard work they put forth this year." The remaining corps schedule is;

July 30th "Drum Corps Hits Philly" in PA
August 2nd The DLO East Championships in NJ
August 7-9 World Championships in Chicago, IL.

Come out to see the corps at these few remaining performances. You will be amazed in how much work and effort these guys pout in during any given week. The corps would also like to invite guests whom have already seen the show, back out and see it again to see the dramatic changes the corps has undertaken. The corps looks forward to seeing you at finals in Chicago, IL!

Guardsmen News!

"Why" was what corps director Ryan Galasso said when the press spoke to him about his corps drop in placement tonight. The corps did only loose .45 of a point off their score from two nights ago. They placed 4th tonight at the Spirit of CR home show in Philadelphia, PA. They did manage to keep ahold of the High Brass award. The visual performance category went down a whole point form two nights ago. Every thing else stayed pretty consistent. "We always seem to be getting better and better, and then when we need it the most we fall back down again. Our percussion stepped up to the plate when they were asked and they found their rhythm a couple of weeks ago and I'm very pleased with their work. It's always are visual performance that is so inconsistent. I'm going to have to beat rehearsal in to my corps so they get in line for the World Championships. We are capable of so much more if the corps focused more on their marching too, rather than just playing the notes. They could be top contenders for the title if they focused on the whole concept of Drum and Bugle corps. Both marching and playing. The corps will be at the DLO East Regional tomorrow night and then it's off to Chicago for the finals. Hope to see you there.

"Terrible!" Was what Ryan Galasso said about his corps performance. "They flat out sucked! They haven't had that bad of a showing in months!" The corps placed a extremely disappointing 23rd at the east regional tonight. Dropping another point from last night. They are on a downward skid right now, and over the past two nights they have lost almost 4 points of their score. "We have never placed out of the top 16 in regionals..............EVER! Our percussion sucked tonight, and I got on them about it. They dropped a whole two points in their caption. Our visual ensemble score went down another half of point! I am extremely angry with corps right now with this score. They had no focus and they better get themselves in gear if they even want to make it to the semi's tomorrow. They need to get focused and concentrate on the show. They corps played the best they ever had at the home show last week and since then it's been downhill from there."

The corps has struggled all year and when it looked like they had found their way they are lost again. it has been a very frustrating year for director Ryan Galasso. He has pushed and pushed his corps to become better and better but he has got no response. Will the corps step up to the plate tomorrow? We'll find out as the World Championships are held tomorrow night in Chicago, IL. See you there.

Guardsmen Update!

The Guardsmen drum and bugle corps is spending today under extreme no talking rehearsals to make up for their poor showing last night and to get focused for tonights quarterfinals performance. " I want the corps to perform at the caliber that I they know they can. It happened once at out home show where we placed 3rd and was only 1 point away from first and 2 tenths of a point away from second. They can do it if they get focused and concentrate. That's what I'm aiming for today. We'll will probably rehearsal tomorrow and they day after that as well if we make the cuts into the semi's and finals. I hope that our bad performance yesterday can be a wake up call to the corps to get it in gear. I would love to see them go to finals after so much work they have put in this year. We just have our moments when stuff goes wrong." Was a speech taking from Ryan Galasso today during the corps water break. It appears that things might go better for the Guardsmen as they prepare for tonight. The corps performs tonight at he Quarterfinals in Chicago, IL. Come out and support the corps.

"That's what I'm talking about!" was Ryan's reaction to his corps performance at the quarterfinals last night. "That was the corps I have rehearsed all year long. It looks like the all day practice to get the corps focused has paid off. I will do the same today then." The corps put up an 88.35 and placed 10th at the Quarterfinals last night! The corps was only .05 out of 9th place so the scores are tight at the top. It should be very interesting to see how the finals play out. "Our GE captions combined rose 1.3 points from Sunday. Our percussion rose to points (that a boy's). Our music and visual ensemble scores each rose a little over a point along with our visual performance. The only parts of our show that fell were our brass by .3 and our color guard by almost a point. I can live with a little bit of dropping in some captions like today if we perform like that every day. They corps has it in them now to finish out the season strong." Things are looking up for the corps as they play in the semi's tonight and hopefully the finals tomorrow. Come out and support the corps.

Guardsmen News from the Semi's

"It was incredible" Ryan Galasso was in amazement of his corps performance at the Semifinals tonight. The corps placed 8th with a score of 88.85, their best yet. "The corps stepped it up yet another notch tonight and I am extremely proud of them." The corps GE caption rose 4 tenths of a point and our brass section another 3 tenths. The color guard showed drastic improvement improving their score by a whole point. "This finals week the corps has been extremely focused. They know what I demand of them and they have given it to me this week. I am extremely proud of their accomplishments. Our brass section has carried the corps on their back since the beginning. Our percussion section and visual aspects of our show dragged the corps but the brass kept us afloat. After a few changes in our show the visual program in running awesome and our percussion section is finding it's way although not to the caliber of my expectations but it will do for now. Not much we can do about it with one competition left.
So for tat being said pay that 50 dollar ticket and come see the finals performance it's going to be an awesome show and really close at the top. You wont be disappointed." from an interview with Ryan after the semi's in Chicago this evening.

Guardsmen from the finals!

"Yes!" is the response we got from corps director Ryan Galasso about his corps performance in the finals tonight. "They put on the best showed that they have ever played, and I am extremely proud of them. They should hold theirs heads high because they played their best. It just wasn't good enough to win it all ,and I'm ok with that." The corps placed 5th at the finals with a score of 89.10. The corps brought home the final caption trophy's of the season for high brass and high music. The corps GE rose even more in the finals than it ever has to give the corps that extra ummph it needed for 5th place. "I would like to thank all of our sponsors at this time. We wouldn't have been here without them. To Yamaha, for suppling all off our percussion instruments. Vic firth for all of our sticks and bags. Remo drum heads. For all of the volunteers involved in making the corps run successfully by putting in hours of their time. And for those who designed the show helped it become what it was tonight, Thank You."

Guardsmen Year in Review!

Article taken for "The Columbus Dispatch"

As the corps came off from the field at finals some were crying, some were happy, and some were pumped up. Most of the age outs left gloves, shoes and sticks on the field as a tradition remembering all of the good times this activity has brought them. This was a great season for them. The Guardsmen's first year in DLOFDC and they finished in 5th place behind the Brassiers, YogioBoo, DC Scandals, and Kama Sutra corps. The corps was up and down all season long. the corps director Ryan Galasso intensely rehearsed the corps all of finals week and the corps played their show at the highest caliber possible. It effected everyone who saw the show. Their brass section brought me to tears at moments for their screaming performance. The corps has a lot to look forward to for next season as the corps is searching for a new show and music selections. The corps is also getting audition material ready for next season. They should be a great corps with many good traditions. The corps will be getting a new percussion and visual caption heads for next year. The corps was extremely happy with their equipment and will stay with Yamaha for next year. The Guardsmen will hopefully have the auditions up soon and be smoking with next years show, which should be a good one. When thinking of a corps to join don't count out the sleeping bear!

Guardsmen in Div 2?

That’s right! The Guardsmen drum and bugle corps may be fielding a div 2 corps, as well as the Guardsmen for this coming season! The decision is being discussed among the staff as we speak. The idea was brought up at the board meeting today. The corps would like to give the youngsters a change to improve their skills to audition for The Guardsmen the following year. More updates and info will be added as soon as available.

"Not bad of a first show," said corps director Ryan Galasso last night after the corps performance in Oswego. The corps placed 5th with a score of 67.4. "It was kind of an off night, but we'll do well tomorrow after having the first show jitters out of us." The corps travels tomorrow to W. Lafayette to perform around 7:30. "WOW", was Ryan Galasso's reactions to his corps performance yesterday. The corps placed first with a score of 68.65 in W. Lafayette yesterday. "It took a while for the scores to come in, but I knew we played well." The corps has never won a competition. Last year the corps placed under 1st the whole year and got 5th at finals. I guess its just the luck of the draw. "Our show still has alot a lot of work to do in it, but I think we have a shot at a championship with our program this year. The judges must really dig the upbeat swing style that we are playing. I am really impressed with the corps and we have tomorrow off, so we will sweat out our rough spots in practice tomorrow and defiantly have an even better show for you on Monday." The corps would like all of your support in their drive for a championship, so come out and support them.

"Absolutely outstanding," was corps director Ryan Galasso's response when asked about the corps performance last night in Lima. The corps scored a 77.8 at the competitions which was good enough to take first place! "Both of the Guardsmen corps are playing very well. It would be great to bring back the fans in Grove City a Div 1 and Div 2 world championship! We'll have to keep up the intensity and great rehearsals. Its not something anyone can accomplish." The Guardsmen are on the move the past couple competitions. Moving from 18th place to 3rd place in Div 1! They would like your support in their show at Elizabeth, PA and the its back in Grove City for the "Central Ohio Classic" for the Guardsmen Home show.

"We just had an off night," said corps director Ryan Galasso. "Our brass was just awful and our percussion could have played better. It was a decisive competition between Yogiboo and I feel they let them selves down." The corps put up a 79.75, 1 point behind YogiBoo. This looks to become one of the best rivals in DLOFDC! "We have the day off tomorrow, and that will be filled with intense rehearsal as well as travel time to Dubuque. I feel we could have played much better." The corps has had two performances since the last issue of Guardsmen News was released. They also had two victories! On July 5th the corps scored a 81.20, and on the 6th a 81.05. "They were satisfactory performances. Our percussion program is holding us back right now, but they'll hopefully get the hang of it. I feel we can play so much better than we have. They have the potential, it's just a matter of time before it's exposed," said corps director Ryan Galasso. The corps plays tonight in Salt lake City and is looking for their 3rd straight win.

The corps has had 3 awesome performances since the last issue of Guardsmen news was released. On the 7th the corps scored a 81.05....again. "It was weird having the same exact score two nights in a row," said corps director Ryan Galasso. On the 9th the corps put it in gear and scored an 83.65, their best of the season. Thanks to a much better percussion performance. At the midwest regional, in Kalamazoo, Yogi Boo stopped another Guardsmen winning streak by a little over a point. The Guardsmen's second place score was an 83.15, due to a horrid visual ensemble score. "We have never scored that low in that caption all year," said Ryan Galasso after hearing about his corps second place finish. "We look to make some fine tuning adjustments for the next regional and will be smoking by then. Come out and support the Guardsmen at the next competition in Harrison, OH tonight.

The corps was making steady progress at the past 3 shows. With scores of 84.29, 84.40, and 84.60, until last night when the corps released their potential and raw power into one awesome performance, scoring an 85.40! "Our guard was spectacular, just spectacular! said corps director Ryan Galasso after the corps left the field. "My hat is off to them. They have put in show much hard worm and it finally pays off. Our brass tonight was a little more something to be desired, but they weren't terrible. Our percussion performance was, not the best we've seen but enough to get by. If we can make some key adjustments we can be unstoppable." The race at the top of Div 1 is very close. The top 5 corps are separated by 8 tenths of a point! "If we can haul in all of our concentration at the next 2 regionals and finals, I will be extremely happy for the corps." The corps performances tonight in Ocala, Fla. Come and see on of the top corps in al of drum corps!

As the summer goes by the Guardsmen keep making great changes to add to the stunning ability of their show. The show in Clarksburg on the 19th came out to be the best of the season, an 87.50! "Our GE score had dropped slightly, but every other caption rose from the night before," said corps director Ryan Galasso. "I would like to make a few changes and add some more drill here and there, but what you have seen is pretty much the finish product, minus some cleaning of the music and drill." On the 20th the corps grabbed another first place finish in Scranton, with a 87.10! Not our best stuff, but it got us through," said Ryan. "We had some minor problems in the 2nd movement, but nothing that can't be fixed with some sweat!" The corps looks for you to be at their next show in Hyde Park, NY tonight!

Guardsmen Victorious in Allentown!

The Guardsmen Drum and Bugle Corps captured the DCI Eastern Classic title Friday night with a winning score of 88.35. The corps breathed easily on Friday night, but the corps on Saturday came a little closer than they would of hoped for. "The performance was great," said Galasso. "Everyone knew what had to be done and what it took to get it.... a regional championship! I am extremely proud of the corps. We've thrown so many changes in the show at them and they have captured them all and are fixing them every time we run a drill! Now that we know we are major contender for the title, I think it will give the corps an even bigger motivation." The Guardsmen have proven that they are big time contender to take the World Championship this year. Come and show them that you care and cheer them on their way to a possible 1st DLOFDC title ever!
