Whew! What a finish! Congrats to Big_John and the Brassiers for taking the first DLOFDC title! This first season proved to be quite a success, even though there was a lot of work involved and a lot of trial by fire situations. Certain things like the excitement generated went really well, and then some other things didn’t go quite so well. But the executive committee and I learned a lot about what to do and what not to do next time around. And believe me, there WILL BE many more DLOFDC seasons to come! It is our hopes that this fantasy league will become the best on the net!

Personally, I want to acknowledge a few members who made it possible for this to happen:

  • The Maestro: This is his site after all. Even though we are a community, he has the final say on what goes on here. He also did the DLOFDC logo with the Glassmen snare line on the docks. Not to mention helping me with a handy-dandy Excel formula to cut my time doing the scores IN HALF! So thanks Josh for letting me start this project on your site. I've wanted to do something like this for a LONG time and this is the perfect vehicle for it.

  • Drumholio (Executive Committee Member #1): Barry single-handedly compiled the Captions sheet that everyone used to create their corps. Starting from the finals recaps from 2003 at DCI.org, he listed everything and then gave each caption their point value. Hard work. But he did it. He also gave a lot of input as the season progressed on what to post and what not. Also, ideas on how to run the spreadsheets that I used to compute scores for the shows. As well as lending an ear when I had ideas and needed input. Thanks Barry!

  • Big_John (Executive Committee Member #2): John gave a lot of GREAT ideas for DLOFDC, including some that will go into effect for Season 2. He also came up with the idea for NEA! and helped out a lot by unlocking the Show Results thread for me so I could post scores! Thanks Juan!

  • Kevin_Fu (Executive Committee Member #3): When Kevin was "killing stuff", he posted a lot of the show results while I was off making a living in the real world! Kevin also had a lot of ideas for this upcoming season that will go into effect. As well as putting up with me bouncing ideas off him.

  • Ironman7 (Executive Committee Member #4): Mike was the first person I really talked to about DLOFDC. I bounced ideas off him as well, and he came up with the original idea of using scores from 2001. Since we couldn’t find recaps for the entire 2001 DCI season, he called up DCI HQ's and had them send out copies of the recaps for that year! Ultimately, the exec committee decided not to use the 2001 season because there were several corps who were inactive from that year that were active last year (i.e., Magic). In future seasons though, the result of his efforts will be used.

  • The DLOFDC Season 1 Corps Directors: We originally had 36 sign up, but for some reason ended up with 26. What happened to the other 10? They never submitted their corps info, or just lost interest. I don’t know. But still, 26 were more than I anticipated. A lot of you were very creative with your posts as well as your fantasy corps. That’s what made it the most fun. So thanks to you fellow directors! There will be more to come!

Thanks alot a lot everyone!

Don't forget:

Thanks to Bernie_Pit who made this all happen. There wouldn't be a DLOFDC if it wasn't for you. Thanks!

The story of the DC Scandals in season 1 was of triumph and defeat. A total class act, the Scandals ate away at their competition, sometimes as far as a whole point in front of others. However, at finals, a few changes were made to the show and that didn't help our score as we hoped. Some members were accused of pay-offs, but no one was charged officially with such accussations.

So take a little advice from the DC Scandals. As Corps Director, I want to give my own advice, and the DC Scandals main fault this past season. Manage your team carefully. I stress that you watch how you use your caption changes! I ended up using 5 out of 6 of my caption changes, which in turn cheated myself out of a caption change, because you must change atleast two captions in order to have a legal caption change.

The DC Scandals would like to give a toast to Mark Bernal. His corps YogiBoo started it all. If it weren't for this man, all of the DC Scandals would probably be selling stuff on the street, be it themselves or illegal substances. The DLO FDC opened a door for some positive light to shine in on DC and we are forever thankful. Thankyou for providing this opportunity to our community, and opening the gates to many others.
Cheers!
