I'm 5'9" and skinny, so my bass drum harness rests against my hips really heavily... My friend who is skinny too told me that he had hip bruises for months after the marching season ended, and I don't want that to happen to me... I don't think I will be allowed to glue anything to my harness, so I was wondering if anybody had any ideas for hip padding of sorts that I could wear and remove easily? Please and thank you!

I've seen people wrap the bottom portion of their carrier up with towels, in the past. It's kind of a ghetto fix, but you can get a black towel, and you won't be able to tell the difference. It may take 2 or more, but hey, if it does the trick, who can complain, right?

Hope that helped!

Many harness designs have an adjustable belly plate, which you'd want to adjust upward to get it off your hips.

Most harnesses have a movaple plate and if yours doesnt what you can do is put the padding againts the harness and its force on you should keep it stable. Or you can just tape a towel on it. Removable efficient no harm done to the carrier.

What brand is your carrier (harness)? Many carriers have delta shaped belly plates that can be reconfigured in an upside-down position. This would place the wider section higher and the narrow section lower. This usually works, especially for females, to place the belly plated in a way that reduces/eliminates contact directly over the hip bone.
