So I decided to challege myself, probably way beyond my capabilites, and started learning "Electric Wheelchair" on tenors. So far, I can't make it past the third measure. For those of you that can play it, how long did it take you to learn, and any suggestions for playing it well?

I hate to be the guy to repeat the same tired line, but, I'd recommend learning some basic skills first. I'm not necessarily talking 8's and sound quality either. I'd recommend being comfortable with all or most of the rudiments and techniques covered in the piece before trying to learn it. Make sure you can play all of the little things within the piece with good technique and quality sound before diving in. If you just jump in over your head, you're going to end up with bad habits and skills that aren't very useful.

Sorry if that wasn't what you wanted to here from your post, but it's exactly what I teach all of my students.

You can also try to make exercises out of some of the technical challenges. Then you´re learning the piece at the same time as you´re working on technique!
