First things first. I am not a cymbal player. I've just recently started learning a lot of stuff about plates so I can feel comfortable teaching them. Now I have a good amount of the actual playing technique terminology down thanks to the SCV audition packet DVD Tapspace puts out (get it, it's awesome) but I am not familiar with what visuals are called what. If anyone could let me know what the basic visuals are called that would be awesome. Just a link to a video with a timecode would be sweet. Thanks.

Cymbal visuals have different names depending on who you're hanging with at the time, almost as bad as drumline notation can get between writers. During my short stint at Teal, we named visuals on the spot just for reference.

There are some unique visuals that have gained antiquity for their awesomeness like the "viper" and "baby killer" but on average visuals don't have set-in-stone names as far as I know.
