They are lighter. Yamaha drums are nice, but expensive. Add Forks Drum Closet to your lists of places to order from.

In my experience, Pearl and Yamaha are at the top of the heap when it comes to quality. I'd opt for Pearl, but it's simply a personal preference.

If you're comparing indoor/"shorty" models to the full-size 14x12 models from the same company, then yes, the smaller drums are a little bit lighter. But the indoor models from one company may still weigh a little bit more than full-size drums from other companies.

...but coming from a tenor player, suck it up. Even "heavy" snares are light. wink
