Maybe it's just me, but does anybody else think that Beddis writes much harder stuff for snare as compared to his quad writing? To me it seems like Crown's quadline has slightly easier music than other corps like Coats. Just an observation. I'm not trying to start anything. Has anyone else noticed this or am I taking crazy pills?

You write to the talent of the line, and That's a damn fine snare line.
My age out year our tenor line was weaker than the rest of the battery. Its no big deal.
If you look at the books from year to year youll see them fluctuate in difficulty. And different types of difficulty. whether its environmental demands, control or chops. you see some instructors/writers go through phases of what they want to explore.
Also may have something to do with the fact that Beddis is a snare drummer ,and Mcnutt was a tenor drummer. Though Hardimon wrote some cool arounds in his day.

I'm offended. smile

Seriously, though, the man has a point. I tend to write much more difficult tenor parts because I am a tenor drummer, so sometimes one's battery "personality" shows through his writing.

In his day..Ralph STILL writes some great arounds man. Ralph has been writing the book for BK for several years and always has some hip beats and cool arounds.

I would agree Jofus that your battery personality tends to show in your compositions. BUT Scott Johnson is a snare guy and BD always has crazy arounds.

Does ScoJo write all of the book for BD now? I know that Dave Glyde has written in the past, but now he is listed as being part of the brass caption on BD's website. Anyway, my question was going to be who came up with the tenor arounds, ScoJo or Glyde?
