Just wanted to get some numbers to see what all the bass drummers out there prefer. Be honest and try to only vote if you really have experience with the different options.
yea that's a bit odd having that 28' in there one size up from 3rd. At my old high school we had 16, 20,22,24,28. I never did like having the top and bottom being so far apart.
As far as playing goes, I've played on pearls , yamahas and mapex. I hope I get to play on some dynasty basses some day. Pearls are the best in my opinion. Our basses at my college are yamahas but sound like poop lol. I guess the lack of a drum tech doesn't help with them sounding good.
I feel like ive never played on a good yamaha. Like after a few seasons, cranking them high is impossible
I've had that same experience. In my ensemble our drums we own were only purchased in fall '09 but trying to crank them the lugs & claws would bend to the point of almost snapping on top bass and slight bending on the lugs for the lower basses.
The reason the Yamaha's did that was because the lugs and claws were not fabricated properly on models before 2004 I think. They lugs were always at an angle and were never level with the fastener on the drum. There was a repair that you could do by removing the fastener casings from the shell and adding washers to level it out. Most people din't even notice the problem. Yamaha knew and in 2004 fixed the problem.
