I was looking for a met and found a Yamaha Clickstation in great shape for $70.

So far, it's living up to its billing. It's like a little piece of timekeeping zen -- very simple, yet it does everything I want. Even some things that the DB-90 doesn't do. And generally, the stuff that it doesn't do are things I didn't care about anyway, like the voice feature on the Dr. Beats.

I was just happy and figured I'd share, kinda like "show & tell" in kindergarten. smile

I always liked the voice that counted on the Dr. Beat. Sounded kinda like a Asian lady from what I remember.

So how much is the Yamaha Clickstation new?

Before they were discontinued a few years ago, they were selling for around $120 new. Used ones still sell for over $100 on eBay.

I have a clickstation on it's last legs and it kills me that I can't get another new.

The backlight feature alone is great for the late show times during the fall when the warmup area is the farthest possible point from the stadium and the only available light sources are stars and cell phones.

I used one of these recently to practice with a couple of my friends. It was awesome.

Why were they discontinued?

No clue.

Best guess- popularity of the Dr. Beat and less than aggressive marketing by Yamaha may have hurt their sales enough to stop production.

Dr. Beat has become a universal synonym for high end metronomes, even if they're another brand. Just like Kleenex/Xerox for tissues/copies.

Yeah, I guess trying to market a product that's already been somewhat monopolized is a waste of money/time/effort.

Thanks for the info.
