hello smile
my school just bought a mapex quantum XT marching snare. Is it just me, or is the hardware that attaches to the drum really sketchy? can someone tell me how to install it?

I don't have a problem with the Mapex XXTSA snare attachment, assuming that's what you got with your drum. Installation is pretty easy. There are two clamps shaped like an upside-down letter F, each with a bolt sticking out. Simply tighten those onto the drum's tension ring and adjust for tilt as shown in the attachment.

Not using it before and only seeing it, it does look kinda sketchy. I don't think I would want to depend on two set screws to keep my drum on my harness. I'd also imagine the system mar the tension ring seeing how they're set screws. SkyDog has obviously used the system before, so he may see something the pictures miss that would negate my fears.

It's actually a pretty sturdy attachment, simple, and easy to adjust. The clamp's bolts probably do mar the tension ring, but it's under a lip where it'll never be seen.
