I don't wish for people to type like that. When someone calls someone out for posting a double negative though, that's a little stupid. I don't know how you can justify brushing me off like that. Your extreme example is really just a poor justification for continuing to bash people for stuff that would pass in a first or second year high school class, especially seeing how many of the people on here are high school students.

BTW, I said that just calling people out on poor English is against this forum's rules.
Quote:
"Try not to post comments that do not add anything to the discussion. When you are just cruising through a thread in a leisurely manner‚ it is not too annoying to read many "I agree" posts. However‚ if you are actually trying to find information‚ it is a nuisance. Therefore‚ save those curt responses for the "Off—Topic" forum."

I also fully understand that one of the rules explicitly say use proper English.
Quote:
"Also‚ post using proper English spelling‚ grammar‚ and punctuation. It makes posts a lot easier to comprehend‚ and it represents you to the world. English shortcuts (neways‚ 2 instead of too‚ etc.) and slang in every other word may work for instant messaging‚ but it has no place at Drumlines.org."

However, this rule is fully for comprehension and not to state your superiority in the English language to other people on this forum. Many people are using this rule to vent what seems to be a superiority complex. The rule based on non-beneficial posts however is violated by posting something like "maybe you should learn the correct form of "too."' before posting next time." That post only deals with the spelling of the word "too." Generally this forum posts about drumming and not about the correct usage of the word "too." Thus that post deals little with a common topic on this forum. I just want to see people punished for doing that crap. And do not say my example is invalid as I've seen just as bad on this forum.

It seems like you're pretty far from this line of logic and already dissatisfied to the point of no return, but I'd reccommend you not worry about your objections to the spelling and grammar issues and just conform.

It's not a request that asks you demoralize yourself or change your personality. Think of it like going to a nice restaurant. You go because it has a reputation of deliciosity and you want some, but they ask that you dress nicely. Do you tell the owners they have no right to ask you to uphold their restaurants reputation of formality and go across the street to Wendy's? Of course not, it's the same thing here homie.

There isn't a better source of drumming knowledge on the internet than this place, just wear a suit and tie and you can take part in the sharing of knowledge. Don't let personal preferences turn you off from a great source of information. Besides, it's just a request for using the language right, no pain there right?

I am fully planing on just dealing with it. I don't think I should have to deal with it seeing how it's against the rules. Perhaps the official rules should be changed at this point.

Superiority complex? Wrong.

Being annoyed by the hundreds of posts we have to edit and having to send "friendly" private messages to youngsters asking them to please use proper spelling and punctuation when posting on the forums. RIGHT!

When you ask yourself "Why are the moderators just brushing me off when I complain about a rule that was implemented by the OWNER of the forum?" Think about....or actually, search the forum, and read the countless threads complaining about the rules, or asking for sheet music.

If you think I am in the wrong and would like to further debate as to why I should subject myself to continue even bothering to rerererererere-explain this, send me a PM.

Josh is providing a forum in which you all can read about your favorite groups, learn your favorite techniques, debate why traditional is better than matched, and so on and so forth....FOR FREE to you. It is expensive for him to keep the forum running.

The least members can do is follow his rules.

As for the rules being changed. Why rewrite rules that you all won't read anyway?

So your not going to rewrite the rules because people don't read them? I can't even make a comment on that concept that it's so bad.

I think you missed the tone of that post, warboy.

Firstly, correcting someone's rule breaking is not on-topic, but it's kind of like the police in a high speed chase. To enforce the rules, they get a pass on other law breaking.

Secondly, you're whining about what? You're either capable of obeying the rules and are just too lazy to do so or you're incapable, and we need to help you.

Thirdly . . . well, seriously, just quit your whining. You're coming across as an ingrate. If you want things to change, start your own damned forum. This place has been a haven to me for several years. I don't care if you don't like it. I do, and the vast majority of the members do. Obey or GTFO.

Wow, you know what, I'm really sorry for trying to make this place better. I'm sorry this forum is actually a good resource that is tainted by posts about spelling and grammar and not drumming. Let alone the hostility turns people who do want to learn away. I'm really sorry for that.

What tone is it that I missed? I just the vibe that the mods have basically just given up, that's the only "tone" I can get from that statement. Not really much of an issue to me though, I don't have enough invested here to really care.

If you don't care then take the door and go to Wendy's homie. Don't down DLO, it's a beautiful place. Just go, best of luck finding a better resource, I sincerely hope you're able to. But no one will sit and let you down such a great resource and more importantly community. DLO is awesome, I'd strongly recommend you get off this tangent, conform and love the life here.

If you can't, just go. Don't down this family.

What do you guys not get? I am not "downing DLO." I am only trying to improve it. Even if it's the best (almost by default) it's not perfect. God I hope you all know that. I've already said that I will deal with it when nothing gets done, I pretty much expected this reaction. I'm just hoping something will be done eventually.

You're kind of acting as the "pot calling the kettle black," here. Until you read and abide by the rules in their entirety, I wouldn't consider trying to offer constructive criticism to the giver of said rules. It's not that your opinion is invalid, but due to your reputation here (as shown by the Karma system), your words are taken with a grain of salt and are generally less reputable than those with positive Karma.
