Season starts soon. Wanted to know if we would be running another season. So if you were in and want to continue, or want to participate post up. a 12 or 16 team league would be sweet.

Note to perspective owners: This is not a set it and forget it thing. it is a 16 week commitment. owners that go auto pilot for the whole season ruin it for the other owners.

Draft TBD. once we have the owners, we'll discuss a time and date. obviously before regular season begins.

EPSN league or yahoo? both are free. the ESPN interface is better IMO.
Draft or Auction? (auctions are way more fun)

How does the auction work?

I haven't tried ESPN. I kinda dig that in Yahoo, I can look at the results of every league I've ever done.

My personal preference is a draft, but I can go either way. How does an auction work for owners who can't make the auction time?

Ive never had the issue of not having an owner not make the auction, id have to look at the contingency. I wonder if there was a way to set it for a 4 round auction then finish in a draft.

Auctions work exactly like it sounds. You get x amount of money to spend on your team. you can bid on player, and so can others. high bidder win the player.
The fun part is trying to get your opponents to over pay by bidding against him, only that can back fire on you, and then you get stuck with a WR you don't want or need.

This is all very preliminary. Trying to generate some interest and discussion.

IMO, ESPN's Fantasy interface trumps Yahoo and NFL.com's interface twenty times over. I've only been into Fantasy Football for a year or two, but I've tried out essentially everything you can.

SkyDog, you can look at the results of every league you've done on ESPN as well.

Also, Insomniac, I'm almost 100% sure you can't do a draft half-Auction and half-Snake...it needs to be one or the other.

No big deal. I'd just have to start a brand new trophy case on ESPN.

Count me in. Historically we've been on Yahoo, but I would be open to trying out ESPN.

I'm down for sticking with Yahoo! for Fantasy Football, it hasn't failed us in the past and I don't see any reason to change.

However, that doesn't mean that I'm not open to changing to NFL or ESPN. I'm in regardless. =]

It is official. We are on ESPN this year. Kevin has been the commish in the past and he is the only one that can renew the yahoo league. However, he has been MIA from the site recently, so I signed us up on ESPN per most of your recommendations. I have never used it, so here is to something new. It is a 12 team league. That is size we used in 2009, so I hope that works for everyone. Oh, and we have to have 12 people....or the league will not draft. One of ESPN's little rules.

Just signed up and made my team. Kinda ticks me off that you can't upload a custom logo, but whatever. Looking forward to beating you guys...

I don't think I'll be able to make the draft time, either. It's one hour after rehearsal on the last day of my school's camp. (I don't know about the rest of you guys, but any time the following weekend works for me, though.)

I don't really plan to play this season. I feel like I won't be able to give it the effort I've given it in years past. While I think everyone doesn't mind an abandoned team on their schedule so they have an easy win, I think most people would prefer active and tough competition.


But if you need 1 with only a couple days until draft day, I might be able to fill in if needed.

We still need 4 more people to sign up for the league or we will have to do a different league. I can not go back and change the day and time of the draft or change the number of teams. If we do not have 12 people at draft time, our league will fold. Hopefully the interface is as good as advertised, because in the pre draft phase of this, Yahoo has ESPN beat bad.

...I'm gonna look like an butthole for wanting ESPN. In a quasi-related note, Lions drumline rehearsal (WTF? usually we just show up and drum. everyone at a Lions is to drunk to care its actually good or not.) was called at 7pm, so I guess Ill be bringing the laptop to practice and running my draft there.

You can change the date and time of the draft, I know that. I dunno about the number of teams, though.

Go to the league page, and there's a link to a page called "Referenda." There will be a place for you to change the time/date and we're gonna have to have a majority vote on it.

I'm setting up all of my other EPSN teams right now, ANd You can definitely use custom logos.
Tried to do it to DLO, and the option isn't there. Perhaps it is an option the league manager needs to check, or perhaps its a limitation to the league type.

I might have missed something on the logos when I registered the league. I wasnt really looking for that, so it is definitely possible.

We currently have 10 people signed up, and I know of one more who should be signed up by tonight. So, it looks like we will only need one more before the draft.

Speaking of the draft, if we are going to change the date that is fine. I am open to suggestions. Just post them on here and we decide, I will set up the referenda for us to vote on it.

I'd be down for either Thursday or Saturday... but this Friday for most people is the first HS football game of the season, which rules out all high schoolers, and any HS instructors ( << this guy).

There seems to be no time that ALL of us can be at the draft. I think we should change it to next week sometime so that we can try to get one more person signed up. I am going to change the referendum to the same time next Friday so please vote on it so the change will go through. If we come up with a definitive time then we can change that too.

Bernie_VK_Pit has told me twice now that he is going to sign up. I reminded him of it yesterday and again just a few minutes ago. I am going to give him until tonight and then we will have to come up with something else.

Ok, here is the deal. No one has signed up and it is less than 2 hours before draft time. I am not going to try and change this thing again. I am going to create a dummy account on ESPN using info from DLO and the other 11 of us will take turns being in charge of that team for a specific week. If we get someone that wants to join after the season starts then we have a slot for them. Otherwise we are going to do it this way instead of losing everything.

I am sure issues will arise like someone trying to trade with the 12th team. The only problem I see is if someone tries to stack their other team. Trades have to be approved so we can shut that down before it happens.

I will post the info once I create the account.

first week is in the books. could pan out to be an interesting year. no real blowouts.

here's a question, what should the protocol be for trading with the dummy team? It would be cool to work out a way to get each of those players into a real line up. can we come up with a way of dividing those guys up? like lowest scoring team gets a guy, then the next, and so on? it would create more parity/drama without actually changing the landscape drastically in one teams favor.

I have gone in and added everyone that has posted in this thread to the fantasy football forum of the site. If you signed up for fantasy football, but have not posted in this thread, or do not have access to the forum, then post it on here. I will add whoever I left out or figure out the problem as soon as possible.
Also, after everyone has access to that forum I will move this thread to that forum.

Now, about the trading with the Monkey Man team. I have no problem with the proposal from Insomniac about dividing up the team. It kind of stinks that the dummy team scored the most points in the league. Please post your opinions on here.

Also, who is trading with the Monkey Man team and who approved the trade for the Monkey Man team? If the same person is trading and accepting then that is not cool. Also, I think we need to put that trade on hold until we decide about dividing up the team.

I did It because I wanted to trade two days ago. I then almost immediately posted here about how to work with that team hoping we could get it figured out in time to play any of those guys this week. (too late now)
I waited for a response for as long as I felt comfortable. No one responded. I thought the offer email would go to no one, and use the veto emails to everyone as the actual acceptance letter. I mean I would offer it (to no one) would sit on the table for two days then expire. I figured that if anyone had issues with it, it would go to veto and no harm done.
So I guess we'll see who is actually paying attention to this. Everyone gets an email about the trade.
Its a pretty decent deal for both teams though. a top 10 receiver for a top 15 receiver and a top 25 RB.
More or less maintaining his 1 receiver numbers (Megatron put up the same more points than wayne last year 5 times, while sitting out two games), while significantly improving his bench/flex options.
The numbers are just as likely to burn me as they are help me. (especially if the jets keep using LT like they are)

I just lost by one point, 73-72, thanks to Garrett Hartley's last-minute field goal.
