There's a pretty good chance there's more paperwork involved than you're aware of. If that head is being bought with school district funds, your director probably has to:
- Submit a requisition to your district's purchasing dept.
- Wait for someone in purchasing to verify budget amounts, approve the requisition, and issue a purchase order.
- Send the purchase order to the vendor (music store or whatever).
- NOW YOU CAN GET THE HEAD.
- Sign off on the invoice and submit it to accounts payable so they can issue a check to the shop.

I don't think you want to open that can of worms. You can be sure that there are state laws and school district policies that dictate what students can be charged for, which organizations (if any) can charge students, and how the money must be accounted for.
