So, they're just about over, what are your thoughts? Favorite event? Biggest disappointment? Favorite athlete? Whatever you feel like talking about.

My favorite event is the skeleton, it's like the luge, but face first. I feel like it's the most hardcore sport ever. Sliding down a track at 90 mph, face first. Gotta be an adrenaline rush. I was kinda disappointed cuz i didn't actually get to see that much of it. It was a pretty short event.

Also, the opening ceremony was pretty cool, but nothing compared to China's. We'll have to wait and see the closing ceremony.
I was kinda ripped that Ohno got dq'ed in the 500m short track final. He definitely didn't push the guy down. But he still had a bunch other medals.

I think my favorite athlete is Bode Miller, partly cuz he's from NH, and b/c he looks like Russell Crowe, and b/c he's awesome. He's got a good attitude and did well this year.

I don't think i ever remember a year with so many crashes on the skiing side of things. I dunno, it just seemed like a lot of people went down.

I was also kinda disappointed i didn't see Shaun White at all. It seemed like they did all the snowboarding stuff right at the beginning and that was it. There was also a ton of curling. It was interesting for a bit, but then got a little old. But such is the nature of the sport i guess.

I really wish I could have more input, but I won't lie... I only watched the an Olympic event once and that was only because I had to for a class. I still don't get the point of curling, but it was interesting nonetheless.

I did manage to catch the very very end of the US/Canada hockey thing yesterday. Buffalo Wild Wings got VERY loud for a few minutes.

I think curling is the most intense sport ever played by some of the most insane and ruthless athletes of all time.

Curling was born of the same bored people as golf. It's a leisurely activity that grew into massive popularity across the pond. Since the Olympics aren't just about what we Americans like, it gets a slot. Since it's actually got an objective judging system (assuming nobody screws up and the skips don't have to get involved), it's also technically a sport. Though you could argue the point since the skips can unilaterally affect the outcome.

Interesting note: the winners in curling are expected to buy the drinks. smile
