One of my most embarrassing moments in marching band... Wow. Okay, one time in high school, our drums were having some maintenance taken care of, and we still had rehearsal, right? Well, the band kept on having trouble locking in to the beat. Even with Dr. Beat blaring, it was still difficult. They complained about it sounding "unbalanced" without the line. That may be true, but it shouldn't be such a distraction. So, the director told the line to sing our parts.
The drum feature sounded like this mass of gibberish. Drum talk, but at the top of our lungs. And when he hit the big unison accents, dogs came running onto the field from next door, because it sounded like we were barking. To REALLY drive home just how silly the situation was, we air-drummed... And did it all with the most serious look on our faces. It was, after all, a direct order.
I swear, this isn't exaggerated.

I have had a few very embarrassing moments.
The only thing that happened while I was still marching was when my line was to far back and to the right, and the tuba line was too far forward and to the left. I ended up falling on top of the tuba player and ended up under the tuba, but the funniest thing about it was the noise the tuba/tuba player made when he fell.
I dropped my cymbals so many times during indoor my director moved me to bass one. Never could hold cymbals very well.
The only other embarrassing moments I have had have been as a drum major, but ill list them anyway.
After our band plays the National Anthem we run over to the gate that the football team runs out of and play Eye of The Tiger (school song). Well I was conducting and was standing a little too far into the middle. Well when the football team ran out, I was hit, literally lifted and carried about 10 yards before the football player stopped and set me down. On the positive, some of the yardage was intentional because the nice football player didn't wanna throw me down into a mob.
And my senior year, homecoming. The worst thing that ever happened was stepping onto the podeum and tripping on the last step, falling forward and causing me to roll off into the pit. Since I am a drummer battery decided to do drum roll when I was laying there, and started random banging when I stood up and bowed to the audience, and re-walked up the podeum.
I at least walked out of everything uninjured, it was never during a contest, and I always learned something in the process. Don't stand where the football team runs in, watch your step when going up ladders, and tuba players make funny noises when they fall.
