Don't just try to sight read. LEARN the music by doing this it prepares you better for reading the more you learn the easier it is to read. An use a met! Don't just read and guess rhythms. Try to perfect everything! Use a mirror. Work a lot on accent taps in all combinations! Control! Control! Control! When learning rudiments, break them down to easier patterns and work on perfecting rhythm, tone, and heights. Breaking down to one hand is easy and works well. Again work with a met. Don't have one? Get one! focus on consistency! Consistent sounds, flams, rolls, spacings, tempo, and control. Have a scheduled practice regime. Always find time for a chop builder!
