Ugh. I wonder if the amount of falls in San Antonio are due to that synthetic grass surface? I've never marched on it before so I have no idea how difficult it may be to march on.

During high school, the field we rehearsed on was grass, but then at the stadiums we competed at, they had turf. Not that our drill is as demanding as a corps drill...
For one though, how did they fall?? Slip or trip? I could understand tripping because if you don't lift your feet up high enough, your foot tends to really stick to the surface. But slipping I don't see.... (refer to previous comment if you don't see where I was going with that sentence)
Ah, I've seen some worse falls than that My instructor told me about one of the Blue Devils bass drummers (1 or 2, I can't remember) that tripped, but fell forward. He tucked into the drum and rolled forward, and popped right back up and continued playing. Anyone hear of that one? Or have a picture of it?
well the first fall i saw was the G-men's bass line. they were marching backwards and the 5th drummer tripped and the 4th and 3rd fell over him and the judge helped then all up. also the devs had a tenor player fall but i think it was because his carrier broke. he kept looking down and messin with it whenever he got a chance.and yea i think it was because the turf, its alot a lot softer than grass.
at my school our practice field is grass and the stadium field is turf, so Im used to both.
the bass drummer almost looks like he's doing a visual. it actually looks kinda cool for a visual i think but just dont fall over lol. it looks kinda like he's on one knee and thursting his mallets back. if i didnt know he was falling id say it looks cool
Yea SHStenor I was also at the show and saw all the falls. Magics bass was the worst fall I must say cause he fell hard and early in the show so u were distracted by who was gonna fall over his hat until the judge picked it up. When BDs tenor fell it made me so mad, I beleive he was also the guy during the Dallas show that dropped his stick so it ticked me off, but, did you see the Mandarin or Madison Bass fall? My friends said they saw both Corps Bass Drummers fall.
