I think others jumping on people for breaking rules are out of place. I can agree to this on circumstances. When you have someone who's takes a very condescending tone with the original poster, then it just causes a negative influence on the site. However, when someone is being positive and is merely trying to be more informing than insulting, then it is beneficial to the overall flow of the site. Everyone should have a clear understand of the rules, and everyone should be able to positively make comments that will help fix situations on the site. And honestly, I look at this way, as a new member, I would prefer to feel welcomed by a member that's been around for a while and correcting me positively, that to have an admin come in with a negative attitude toward the situation. I've said this before on a thread about the automated grammar corrections, as long as the corrections/comment aren't harming the overall flow of DLO, then I think there's not so much of a problem.

Yeah Bill, the problem lies in the neglect towards to the rules & conditions. But this is why... It's the age of the internet, an age of second to second information. We can now jump from story to story and from site to site at our own pace, which today, frankly, is very fast. We are lured back to this internet thing by the speed of information. It's incredible how many resources are out there. So here's a situation: You come to a website ( DLO, for instance) and like the direction and mission of the organization, so you go deeper and seek membership. Here at DLO, it's easy, just agree to the rules. The problem is, whenever anybody joins anything that's through an impersonal medium as the internet, the agree box is checked before you can read the title "Rules and Conditions." I knew when I signed up here that this site seemed to be strictly "modded." I read consequences for failure to read and adhere to the rules about five times before I could even read a blog or make a post. It's on the new members, not the mods. They've put a lot of time into this site, which every active member appreciates greatly. They have stated clearly, all over this site, that your NEED TO READ THE RULES. Yeah, we all make mistakes, but reading the rules will keep you spot clean 98% of the time. Go mods, thanks for a great site!
