Wow, check this out. It's pretty pricey, but I'd still tap that.

I saw that while searching for my old percussion instructor. It was cool to find a video of him reviewing that product. Micah is a great guy and the next time I see him I'll probably bring it up. The pad seems pretty nice. I saw some similar to it at the last DCI show I went to but I'm not sure if they were the same brand. They both had the rims and the one I played had a good feeling. I'll have to look into this. (Though I probably wouldn't buy one for $60. Like previously stated, I'll stick with my Real Feel and Slim Pad.)

I have a pad like that. Ronnie Lagrone hooked me up on tour this summer. It is the best feeling pad I have ever played on. Better than the slimpad imo.

It's seems as though the original initiatives behind a pad, which were a quiet form of practice and price, have gone by the wayside.

This pad sounds pretty counter top-ish like the slimpad and a few other not so silent options out there.

I understand that not every one has a drum at home, but for my money, I'll stick to my well worn real feel (which works my chops much better) and my FFX when the house is empty.

I like it. The rimshot things seem really cool. I know that although I can hit a rimshot 100% of the time on an exactopad, I'm much less accurate on a real drum. It'd be nice to be able to practice that without having to do the real thing.

One of my good friends is doing brass odyssey right now, and casey brohard was working with battery for a little bit. Apparently he brought one of these with him for everyone to play on and give him feedback. She told me that she really liked the feel of it. She also said that it feels more like a drum than a slimpad and is actually quieter.

I was at my friends house today and his dad was sent one of these because he's a really popular instructor/clinician I guess. So we played around on it a bit, and all I can say is that it's an awesome pad. The last pad you'll ever need to buy.

Compared to a Slim Pad with the laminate, it feels more like a drum and is also not as loud. The rim is great for shots and is definitely a bonus too.

On the bottom of the pad is some kind of rubber to keep the pad from sliding off of surfaces like tables. It won't even budge if you try to slide it by applying light pressure, so there is no way it's going to slide out of under you while you're player.

If I had the money I would definitely get one of these.

From watching that video, It did make me realise a few things. The slimpad (as nice as it is) does kind of feel rough on the hands, I didnt really notice it till he said it. The real feel (gives you pad hands) is soft on the hands, while the slimpad is rough, That pad LOOKS like its a nice mixture of both. But 55$, if they could lower that to even the price of a real feel, man, oh man.

Very true, but even a small drop to 40 dollars. I imagine ,givin some good advertizing, a few months and it can start outselling the Slim pad and the Real Feel.

snarepaint, this is Dave of OffWorld, I'm glad you mentioned that aspect of the volume in the articulation produced by our pads. We actually spent a great deal of time researching multiple aspects of practice pad usage, including the lower volume at which they were originally invented to function at. The Invader I was the original gum-rubber version that we're still offering, the Rim element is identical to the Invader II. The new version of this pad will include a poured base (similar to the Invader II). Here's a picture of it :

Thanks everyone for all the input and comments regarding the new pads recently (both good and bad), very much appreciated.. Please keep them coming.

- OffWorld

Bitsponge, thanks for the Invader order..I saw it come in and packed it myself. I'm confident it will be the most effective, true-to-the-drum (not to mention last) rudimental drumpad you'll ever need to buy.

Hehe, now that's reassuring!

I can't wait to get it, I've heard nothing but the best.

edit: Stubs, I didn't get a confirmation either, just a receipt from Paypal. It'd be nice to get a tracking number or something.

Guys, appreciate the question regarding shipping time/track. We're currently using USPS to save on cost/hassle for everyone. Unfortunately they don't offer tracking info without a further charge. We're investigating other options that will include tracking throughout the US. (Stubs, if you're in the 37091 TN zip, yours went out the very next day (the 30th)). Give us some feedback as soon at it arrives.

regards,

OffWorld,
Check out Click N Ship from the USPS. If you purchase and print postage through the USPS website, you'll get free delivery confirmation with the ability to email tracking to the customer directly from the USPS page for free.

So I just got mine today, loving it so far. It's not that much louder than my Firth double sided pad's quiet side, and much quieter than the Firth's loud side. It feels better than both, too. I think I may do a review of it in a bit, but I have to go now. Great job on this, Offworld!

btd09, I've heard a couple of people are having this problem with the Invader page, esp PC users with slower machines. We're working on the problem as I type this. In the meantime try loading in a different browser or view on a mac. Thanks for checking out our page.

Just put an order in last night and am very excited. Im not going to lie, I love chopping on a soft realfeel, but this pad just looked too good. Ill definitely be posting back with a review as soon as it comes.

EDIT: It would be great for your company offworld, if you could start getting this pad out to online retailers and eventually other stores. There's no doubt in my mind this pad could start attracting some serious attention.

I found out recently that these pads are actually made in my state and the guy who "invented" them is an old friend of my band director.

My band director ordered me one last week with an extra $50 I had in my account. Hopefully it will be here this week!

So i got mine today and it is AWESOME!!! It feals so much better then my slimpad, is quieter and has a rim to boast. the rim is great to have because it helps perfect that rimsot technique and angle of approach you cant do with a normal pad. I just overall love the feal of it and it is so awesome. if you have any more specific questions feel free to PM me or just post a reply. hopefully i can get a video review up soon but Im not sure.

I heard from my friend who just bought one that they are in the process of developing one. He heard this from one of the guys that work there.

A guy who works for Offworld mentioned that one is in the works on this site, so it's pretty official I'd say laugh

I've played on one before and it feels like a slimpad but it sounds like a slimpad with laminate. But 60 bucks is a bit much for a pad.

It feels much better than a slimpad, imho.

I love this pad. I just got it today in the mail, and wow, this feels exactly like Kevlar®. It was well worth the 69$.

The rim should make my rim shots perfect, as with my old HQ, I would have to completely hit my stick flat. Also, the head feels just like a real snare. The sound isn't too loud, a little quieter than real feel.

I am very impressed with it.
If you can afford it, buy it!
Only took 4 business days for mine to ship.

This pad is amazing!!! By far the best pad I've ever played on. It feels amazing and is really articulate. The only problem I had with the pad was how quickly it got dirty, but I guess it's just a personal problem.

Just ordered mine last night grin .
Finally was able to make enough money the other day. I worked 9 hours in all. Paid 75 bucks with shipping so I'm hoping this will be the last snare pad I need lol.

It's good, but the top part of mine is begging to rip a little. It's worth it though.

It will be. They do get dirty really quick. If you want it looking new, just spray some windex on it and wipe it down w/ a microfiber cloth. Do note that if you don't use a microfiber cloth, it will have threads from whatever you used on it all over the place.

Once your done with the Windex or all purpose cleaning cloth like Pledge Multi-surface you can go an extra step and use Armor All or Turtle Wax to make it super shiny also.

Those are some pretty cool tips. I especially like the wax one grin

I wonder if it could fit nicely in a cymbal bag. If so that would make a great case and carrying baggy lol.

A though that might be taking it to the extreme. After all, pads are suppose to be rugged and take a beating.

Yea I just got mine the other day, first thing I noticed was how non-slick the surface is on the back. It's so non-slick that it kinda sticks to stuff like the stool I first put it on!! This also allows it to get dirty really quick especially if you have pets.
I'm thinking about turtle waxing mine to see if that helps protect the pad from getting dirty as well as seeing if using a microfiber cloth (like warboy stated) will help get ride of some of the lint and pet hairs on mine. Using a normal paper towel with Windex seems to spread lint on the pad when cleaning.

It's supposed to be that non slick so it won't move around when you hit the rim shots. I took an old pinstripe head, cut it to fit the pad, and stuck it right on the top so it doesn't get as dirty and it's smooth like a real snare head and still gives you the same reaction. and whenever I want it off I can just peel it right off. Some of you should try it.

Lol, my realfeel is getting beat up, so when I go to PASIC 2009 I think I'll try all the pads out and make a decision, instead of just listening to other people play theirs and talk about it.

I'm really happy with mine. I had the classic Perc HQ double sided pad for about a decade, and I'd say after 10 years of playing and teaching I finally wanted something that more closely mirrored the feel of a high-tension snare. The Offworld Invader (I think I have the V3) is a really outstanding option for anyone from budding rudimental drummers to advanced snare players. The price can be a little steep, but reasonable for its durability. Also, sales crop up around the holidays.
