I know a lot of ppl on here have done some form of solo from rowloff. I have 5 of them i might do for solo and ensemble. What solos have some of you guys done and recommend for playing.

1.Phantom of the pheild / tenor solo pretty tough
2. Rudimental Clave/ snare solo. hella amazing
3. Blue Hammers/ timpani solo pretty easy but nice groove
4. In the stillness of the twilight/ Vib solo (uses 4 mallets
but i recommend if you are trying to get better.
5. Duet to it/ snare and tenor solo grade 5 but i think could
be knocked out by most anybody.

I played rudimental clave my sophomore year. It was a lot of fun because when I first got it, I couldn't play it (inverted cheeses and some flam 5 to flam drag figures). After a few months though, I was 10x a better player than I was before I started the solo. So it's a cool solo that helped me get better. I don't know your current level right now so I don't know if it's below or above your level, but the hardest part are some inverted cheeses at around 110bpm). But those are no sweat for me now

It has a weak ending though so I recommend changing the last measure or two.

it is Above my Level i can pretty much play all of the first part jsut not up to speed. i can do the cascara section too. most of it. but im working on it to make me better. its so fun to play

Phantom of the Phield is a safe bet, Ive played all of the Marty Hurley ph' solos and not many people can pull them off very well with all the little details. You should be good! (I have never seen any of the others, though.)

I played In The Stillness of Twilight last year. It's a great solo. It's not the hardest but not the easiest either. Good to help build 4 mallet and vibe pedal technique. Great melody too.

Yeah i am not that good at 4 mallets and i think ima use them for college auditions while im at it
