Phantom's snares did sound amazing. And if you watch a video of the snare line in the lot, you can hear how much they ring up close.

I've done homemade scoops before, too, but I used sheets of plastic from our local TAP Plastics store. Other than the lack of a manufacturer's logo, our scoops were pretty much identical to Yamaha scoop we used as a template.
