Wallingford Regiment Returns

Good afternoon DLO! The Wallingford Regiment has returned for the 2008 DLOFDC Season! From the first season, the corps performed and competed at a high level, taking seventh place in Division 5 in 2006. Rising quickly through the ranks, the corps was promoted to Division 2 after their fifth place finish in Division 3 last year.

"Last year's show was great, but I think we can expect even greater things this year," said director, LafayetteSnare.

The staff will be announcing this year's show in the next post with a detailed preview of what to expect. Stay tuned to this page throughout the season for more updates.

2008 Show Announced!

The Wallingford Regiment is proud to announce its 2008 show, "Face Off!" As with the last few shows, "Face Off!" will feature all original music written by the director, LafayetteSnare.

Mvt. I: The show opens with a brief percussion solo, followed by an immediate hit from the brass. This loud, note-packed opener nails the audience with its power, and gives new meaning to the phrase, "In your face!"

Mvt. II: The music slows down as the corps enters a moving ballad, while the drill maintains its pace. The volume moves up and down as the music creates a slow-motion version of the opener. After another powerful hit, the group decrescendos one more time.

Mvt. III: The closer wastes no time in establishing a blistering tempo. The battery battles throughout the movement, trading solos while the brass and guard face off in the back. The ensemble accelerates and the music builds until the show comes to an explosive finish with the final hit.

Opening Day

Good afternoon, DLO! It's opening day in Rockford, IL and excitement is in the air. The Wallingford Regiment arrived last night and will be rehearsing all day for their first show. "We had some rainy practices in Lexington, but I think we're ready for tonight. It should be a good show," said director, LafayetteSnare.

The corps and staff wish everyone the best of luck. See you on the field!

Gold in Pt. Huron

The Wallingford Regiment took home its first gold medal of the season last night in Pt. Huron, MI with a score of 72.1. "The scoring has definitely been interesting the past few days," said LafayetteSnare, referring to the 3 point jump they experienced from the day before.

The corps will be performing in Hampton, VA tomorrow night. Again, good luck to everyone.

Wallingford Regiment Takes the Gold!

After an amazing show in Bloomington, IN last night, the Wallingford Regiment took home their first World Championship! With a score of 93.475 (a 1.25 spread from 1st to 2nd), the corps retained the first place ranking that it had held onto since July 30th.

Another notable accomplishment was their score from their preliminary performance: 93.650, the highest in the corps' history. The corps collected a total of 29* medals throughout the season: 4 Bronze, 6 Silver, and 19 Gold.

*The corps placed second in Pikeville, KY, but no medals were awarded at that event.

"Of course I'm happy about the final results," said corps director, LafayetteSnare, "but I'm even more pleased with the show that the performers gave last night. They pulled off an extremely difficult program and put a lot of energy into it."
