I searched the forums for this and couldn't find anything regarding this. so i figured i'd start it myself.

anywayz i figured it'd be kinda interesting to see if any DLO members' school whether it be college or high school has been home to any well known figures in the musical world such as Jeff Queen etc.

so to start it off my high school was home to Ken Bodiford which is the current director of Spirit and also the JSU Marching Southerners.

I graduated from my high school, and I'm going to my college.

Seriously though? I got nothin'. I think Harper Lee might have attended Huntingdon, but she transferred elsewhere before completion of a degree.

I don't think we have anything music-wise.

The only person I know of that is somewhat "famous" is some chick that went to my school a while back who was apparantly a Playboy Bunny Playmate of the Year....or something like that. I looked her up. Not bad. wink

EDIT: I don't think he went to our school or anything, but he was our percussion instructor a year ago. Here's a picture. (He's the bald one. His name is Micah) I'm guessing he was a snare tech for BD.

Pics or it didn't happen wink haha j/k.

My school has spawned plenty of drum corps players, but none who'd be considered famous. The most notable was a guy from cadets 02 that won drums.

I know this. smile There is a video of his I&E solo on Youtube, and I think he played it for me and some other of the kids in the drumline after one of our indoor rehersals. (Maybe it was something else, but it was sick)

Anyway, Micah's a great guy. The most chill instructor I've ever had.

Wait, the blindfolded pianist as in Martin Leung? He actually goes to my school (CIM) right now. He played a concerto with our orchestra this past semester.

My high school didn't have any music alumni (although Ivan Pacheco did teach there for a while), but Kevin Costner graduated from it if that counts for anything.

Nobody has really come out big from my school, We do send a lot of kids to Ohio state though, but nobody famous. The only person I can think off the top of my head was Jerry Evans back in the 80's, One of my uncles best friends. It's kind of funny to hear my uncle try and hype up the situation.

"How many people do you know can say their best friends with a man who just caught a game winning touchdown pass from John Elway?"

But, Other then that, the only thing I can think of is, My drum instructor used to march next to Bill Bachman (1995), Doing such things as not changing for a week just to annoy him.

we've had a few drummers go through the school and march corps.

and the heisman trophy winner richard kaizmaier went there. only reason i know that... he donated the trophy and i had to play at the ceremony...

Well our instructor is Jim Irish, i'm not sure if he is well known or anything, but he has instructed a plethora of drumlines. He was on DCI (I forgot which), and he apparently knows Jeff Queen very well.

This bio says he knows all kinds of guys, but he told me himself that he doesn't know Peart (darn no hook up) so it isn't accurate.

He's awesome

Dude, whatever. Half the girls on girls gone wild are from panama city, or at least were taped (or another word that rhymes) there.

Uh, from my town, nobody too famous: Pam Oliver from Fox Sports, Chris Judd (former husband of Jennifer Lopez), Aquaman from Smallville, and of course me.

But from my school, I guess Tebow counts, Emmit Smith, David Eckstein, probably a few others I missed.

The high school line I teach is where the great Scott McCoy once played snare. laugh

Heh, thanks man. cool

A real celebrity from Lake Park High School is Grammy award-winning percussionist, Glenn Kotche. I think I wrote in his year book he'd be a rock star. Little did I know he would become just that.

He just had a baby. I'll tell you about it later.

Napoleon Kaufman - Played football with him a bit in HS - he still owns every lifting record at my HS. He used to workout with the offensive line, and it would be US keeping up with HIM lifting. Good god that man is strong.

The video of him hyperextending his knee on live television still makes me physically ill. While not as bad as the Theismann or Krumrie injuries it's still not easy to watch.

Didn't he retire from the NFL to be a preacher or something? I didn't think it was the injury that caused him to leave the game. Can't seem to remember.
