amen

You guys are completely right, all sections can have cool parts, but you have to look at it from a different point of view. In most high school settings, snares are the best players. A good comparison is baseball. When kids first start out playing baseball, the best athletes are usually the pitchers. It works the same way in drumline. By the time you get to the top level lines (compared to professionals in baseball) everyone is "the best player" and each section has equal responsibility.

that is so true. for example if you look at last yeats cadets show they had some amazing bass line splits. In my oppinion once you pass high school the bass line has one of the hardest jobs. keeping all of those splits sounding clean. thats a lot of work. Im still not changing my answer that i would march snare but i am reinstating the fact that once past high school and even in some of the top high schools all of the sections have their own responsibilities and all are hard to master.

I'm drum captain and I'm also going to be a senior next year. My freshman year I marched bass one and the next two years I marched snare. I've gotta say, snare has the POTENTIAL to be wicked fun-- when the line is perfectly clean that is, otherwise it just gives me a headache! Bass drum splits on the other hand, have the potential to be freakin' sweet-- so freakin' sweet that I decided to come back to bass drum. And I'm determined to build a freakin' sweet bass drum line to play freakin' sweet splits all freakin' day!! (sweet!)

I'm big on bass but I also want to march snare in a world class drum corps one day.
