Stretchable Cymbal Straps? PLEASE READ

Hello,
I wanted to find out if anyone knew what cymbal line in WGI during their feature had cymbal straps that were stretchable.
I'll elaborate: During their feature, they would extend their arm out in various positions and the cymbal would go a few inches off their band and then snap right back. It gave somewhat of a "yo-yo" effect.
I wanted to know how they managed to do that? Is there hardware out there used for that purpose, or was this just another crazy creation in the cymbal world?

I acutally found it on youtube. Music City Mystique 2006. Here's the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V63dUrcNX1Mit happens at 4:13. Any idea how they do that? Rubber or elastic bands somehow tied on?

That was Music City Mystique's cymbal line from 2006. If I remember right, SCV also did it a while back. But they're not stretchy straps, they're bungee cords.
Ahh ok I figured! I wanted to research that and experiment,..a show I am teaching cymbals for could really use something interesting like that! Thanks for your help!
Now if I could only figure out how the heck they tied them on there to not affect their playing!

I don't remember if it was in drum corps or high school, but a line I was in did something like that in the early 90s. We used latex surgical tubing like this stuff. The same tubing works great as a 'practice tip' over the bead of a drumstick, too. It's the same concept as IP's practice tips.
