Our line leaves room for the fulcrum. I've tried taping the whole stick but sometimes my hands would get swety and the stick would get slippery.

The first time you use a stick that has just been taped it is going to be slippery but the more you use it the less slippery it will become.

I have my snareline tape the sticks full all the way from taper to butt. This is to keep hand sweat from logging the stick and subtrating from the good original sound quality. We try to minimize tape overlap as much as possible, so as not to add too much weight to any part of the stick.

We tape all the way to the fulcrum. The tape overlaps itself.

But wouldn't the tape covering that much of the stick, hinder the resonation of the stick, thus hindering the original sound of the stick?

My line taped 3" from the bead, to the bead.

we tape it just long enough so that our fulcrum is on the tape but nothing else is with the right, with the left we tape to the same length as the right

My line tapes the whole stick and its just not the snares that do it our quads and basses do it as well. We do it to match and to make our sticks not look as beat up.

I tape my sticks from the bead to halfway down the stick. My reasoning is that I need the tape to prevent the stick from splitting/breaking, so I tape the only parts that will ever hit the drum or rim. Same goes for our tenors sticks.

our school's line uses vic firth sticks so we go from the bead to the american flag on the stick. its just something we made up. and I tape our tenor sticks half and down to the grip but not under. we use plain white tape and orange for Halloween!
