Ok, I saw the drumline terms thread and it came to my attention that there needs to be a quote/saying thread. You can say what they mean if you want to.

I'll start:
"You can't polish a turd"
*we were good enough to clean, some aren't even close
"Don't mess with the Kool-Aid"
*play consistently
"You can't play like that and then look like where's waldo" *we played clean, but heights were all off, not digging in.
"Demons"
*explains the scary sounds coming from the band room.

"You guys play so dirty!"

*Weird looks from rest of class*

I'm pretty sure all the ones I know are contain vulgar language

Yeah, a lot of ones I have contain some nasty language... but I prefer to keep those to myself

There's some stuff my instructor says:
"That was money." when we're clean
"Hit the (insert freakin' or d-word here) drum" When we're not playing loud enough.
"Don't fly away" When a not-playing hand doesn't stay set.
"You gotta flow wit it man!" When the hands follow each other in a tenor part.
"Brotha' Man" When he's getting anyone, including a girl's, attention.

"Guys, don't screw this up"---burns

the last thing my instructor would say before we lined up for competition.."DON'T SUCK."

my two favorite things my instructor says is when we are playing dirty or we mess up....

1. "That sounded like a bowling ball in a dryer"
2. "FOLLLLLDING"

remembered another one:

after we did a particularly long roll exercise several times in a row our instructor commented "that's better than sex"...referrring to the burning sensation in your hands after playing the exercise.
