Drumrboi, I think you've got all the contact points covered, but something about your grip just screams "TENSION!" I think you should really concentrate on eliminating any stress you may have within your fingers and wrist, moving it all to the "webbing" between the base of your thumb and first finger. Try this simple Hannum exercise: 1. Stand straight and relaxed with your arms by your side, and one stick in your right hand. 2. Bring your left forearm up by bending your elbow until it is parallel with the floor. Your left thumbnail should be facing the ceiling. While maintaining a totally relaxed curled-finger left hand position, use your right hand to push the stick between the appropriate left-hand fingers, forming the traditional grip.
That's all there is to it! If your hand distorts from this shape at all, then you are introducing unwanted tension into your grip and you should: 1. Stand straight and relaxed with your arms by your side,...etc.
For you brigeman, F**k you too! Seriously though, you should curl your middle finger over the stick, unless you're being taught by Marty Hurley...
P.S. How long have you been playing left-handed classical guitar?
