Everyone has 8 caption changes.. and I know that most of us are waiting till the very last minute to make these changes. I was thinking that maybe instead of being allowed to make 8 caption changes the week before finals, why not have a required amount that are supposed to be made by this time, and required by that time, and so fourth. Like every week or so make it required to have 2 caption changes made by the end of the week. I think this way it would keep things interesting instead of scores changing dramatically all of a sudden right before the end.

But, if what if someone is happy with their current captions, yet are forced to change them?

Then they could just not use them, and then those caption changes would disappear altogether.

This might be possible next year.

We thought about it this year, but last year we had a lot of "no shows" -- People who signed up and got "dragged along" because they pretty much abandoned their corps. I didn't think it would have really made sense to force more activity to all users when we had so many who weren't that active (if active at all!).

This year seems to be a bit more competitive, so something like this may be possible, but I'm still not sure if I like it or not.

i find the dramatic and sharp score changes near the end a little bit exciting more than annoyed. but really, thats just me. i think the sharp changes is what makes it competitive cause you could really never know what someone is doing or going to do.

a corps that is completely last in any division could have just put used the lowest caption cost for each caption, he/she could save all the caption changes and right at july 31, change the captions and surprise, his corps just jumped from last to the top. this may sound cheap to ghost the entire season but it's not illegal in the handbook.

I share almost exactly the same opinion. Having sharp changes keeps it interesting.

Then you also have those guys that ar marching or are just plain gone for the summer and want to set up their line before they leave. I could see maybe alotting people lesser changes in a shorter period of time and having several periods where you could let those changes build up. Example: Week 1-3, 2 changes; Week 5-8 2 changes, and if you haven't made any changes by week 8, you'll have 4 changes... or something like that. I do not think we should require people to make cahnges though.

What's everybody elses opinion?

You're not talking about any fantasy corps in particular... are you?

I am not 100% happy with the current caption change policy either, so we will be discussing the issue for next season. I have had many ideas pass through my noggin.

Yeah I was just thinking because some corps like mine, which is in the bottom 4, will probably take a giant leap into the top 10 or 5 by the end. I just dont see it as realistic with the real drum corps activity.

Edit:
Also, I think this way people would become more involved in the DLOFDC and it would require some skill to be able to look ahead and decide what captions to change now and what to change later.

Ok sorry.
