Hi there- I am corps director for Symphonic Star Drum and Bugle Corps out of Lexington, KY (Division 5). Looks like things are shaping up for an exciting season- best of luck to all corps!

***********************************************************
The 2006 Symphonic Star presents:
Cityscapes
Cityscapes is a series of musical and visual sketches exploring the modern metropolis. Featuring all original music written by the staff, Cityscapes promises to be a hot and exciting show!
I. Downtown
The short, conservative opener provides a nice introduction to the show with a couple nice hits and a half time section at the end.
II. Streets
Movement II is hot! Punctuated by a brilliant soprano section and squeaky clean back battery, Streets will get the audience on their feet!
III. Urban Sunrise
Depicting the early-morning light glinting off the skyscrapers, Movement III is the beautiful "eye of the storm."
IV. TBA
Movement IV is the drum solo-more later.
V. Night
The sun sets on this magnificent show- featuring a driving battery groove at the beginning, and an alternating 2/4, 3/4 feel, all the stops are pulled out for the closer. Featuring ridiuculous horn parts and several auxiliary percussion instruments, Night is the perfect closer for this high-powered show.

Today holds hard news for all SS fans.

First of all, it has just been released that one of the Drum majors for the 2006 season, Frederic Snivel, was shot during a crack deal. This happened during a free day yesterday in Indianapolis. "We were all doing our laundry and he sorta snuck off into an alley... that was the last we saw of him," says SS member Billy-Bob Knowhow.
The corps has taken this very hard, but expects Frederic to be back in a couple weeks. "The show tonight is for Freddy," said Knowhow, referring to the Indy regional.

Also, corps director Paul has just released the information that the amps/soundboard truck lost control and drove off a bridge crossing the Mississippi last week. While the drivers were saved, all the corps electronic equipment was lost.
While the Indy show will be done without amplification, there is good news ahead. YEA!, together with renowned D&BC The Cadets, have agreed to donate to the corps so many amps, mics, speaker sets, and other paraphanelia that Paul was discussing the possibility of hiring 36 more sound technicians to help set up and move the equipment. "They were very generous," said Paul. "They even offered several props to our cause, but we just didn't have room in our trucks!"

All the recent tension may explain some of the corps recent inability to generate decent scores. Well, that's all for tonight- good night from Symphonic Star.

Symphonic Star made a drastic jump into fifth place on the leaderboard on Wednesday in Dublin, medaling for the first time since June 25th! Excitement has been running high since the victory, and SS director Paul has informed us that rehearsal today was the most focused it's been since mid-June, when First Tour began.

At this point, only .85 seperates Symphonic Star from the uncontested leader in the DLOFDC, Rochester Lightning.

Symphonic Star, announced corps director Paul today, is currently out of caption changes. We'll get to see if any progress on the scoring situation has been made tomorrow night, at the corps home show, in Louisville: Wild Nights on the River. Several big-name corps will be there, so it should be a good litmus test for the corps.

Great news for SS:

A couple days ago in Allentown, the corps captured gold. Things are really starting to come together this year.
