I was in eighth grade, nearing high school. I had just learned to flip and stupidly when I tried to flip into set I hit myself in the forehead.... the other two freshman (no longer in drumline) saw and all that year thought they were better than me because they never hit themselves with their cymbals....

Yup... it was embarrassing.

It might not seem that embarrassing, but, in that particular moment I could have shot myself.. We were marching off the field after our finals show, during the World Championships. Shortly before we halted a hex nut came loosed of my quad, and when we stopped the drum fell of the carrier. I caught it thank god, but when I realized I was missing a hex nut I shouted as loud as I could (mind you, without thinking!): "Has anyone seen my right nut?!"

I think my most embarrassing moment was at our last game, of course I'm still a freshman so, I should have more embarrassing moments to come. Anyways, back to the story. It was the last game, and our Drum Captain decided we would "Casually go have an exchange of cadences". This was during third quarter of course, and 3 of our bass players had run off in search of food and relief in the nearest porcelain potty. He decides to just leave them behind and we head over to the opposing team's side. We go over and start up one cadence, and out of nowhere, right in the middle the three bass drummers come running across the track trying to get into it. (This is not the worst part of it) One of them trips, and takes a good minute to get up. This was a pretty embarrassing moment for our whole drumline.

Then after our third cadence, us cymbals were supposed to crash extremely loud. Right as I crash, a shard of my cymbal goes flying at the other drumline and bounces across one guy's quad's heads. We keep playing, and no one on our line noticed of course, but I surely know what happened and will not forget it.

Later that night, as we were marching out, someone noticed I had a good 2 inch or so shard missing from my cymbal, and everyone started asking me what happened to it.

I casually replied "Didn't you guys see? I was trying to take off that tenor's head!"

it was my first year in percussion, and i was on the second smallest bassdrum (in high school). during one of the practices, we were finishing up the show (a march) and my friend next to me decided to be cool and have some fun. we finished the song, and after the last note, my friend leans over, and hits my bass drum...hard...he added a stinger. a bass drum stinger solo. needless to say, i got yelled at.

oh well. now Im on tenors, so its cool. smile

Not necessarily MY most embarrassing moment but this one shoudl be pretty high on the list. The poor guy tries to pick up a stick and it goes downhill from there.

At least it should be a lesson learned to us all, "Don't fall on your face before a drumbreak."

It was my first year in marching band and I was on Snare. We was lined up in formation and began marching onto the field for the competition and the person infront of me was really tall. As we walked up an incline their foot some how managed to kick the bottom of the snare and knocked it off my harness, and it landed on its side and started rolling making me have to chase it infront of everybody.

Well, this was my Sophomore year, last year, and I was on Vibes and my friend was on her vibes. We tend to giggle and mess around a lot. We were just in practice, thankfully. But drum captain was talking to the battery. Boring, right?. My Vibraphone partner and I were spinning our mallets. I'm pretty good, okay? Weellllllllll, I was twirling it. Then, my finger cramps (we were doing double mallets this year, and I wore my fingers out) And the fuzzy ol' mallet flings up in my eye. I kinda fall to the ground.. It was Painful! And drum captain, buttface man just.. gives me the evil eye. I couldn't play fpr the next 10 minutes, because I couldn't see out of my right eye. So my dearest, sweetest Vibes partner kept laughing at me.
