It was my first year in Percussion. I had the largest bassdrum. We were on an away game and I was not feeling very well lol...

We marched our show, and they whiped the floor with us technique wise. And after we were done, I was marching off the field. I was not able to see in front of me the marching stand laying on the ground. I tripped over it, dropped the bass drum threw my sticks and walked back to the stands. Was I mad? yes. Did I learn something? Yes, never assume when your marching with a bassdrum .

what's your most embarrassing moment?

Freshman year in high school I played one of those marching cymbal racks. We had a big 8 counts of silence before a big hit in our finale. At a football game someway somehow I was on the wrong foot. Had a huge crash on the downbeat of beat 9 but being on the wrong foot I hit it a beat early when everything was silent. ugh....

lol, I have a Freshman snare who happened to drop his stick this year. I felt stupid cause I neglected to tell him that, If you're on the field and you drop a stick, DON'T pick it up. Well... It was contest day, and we were going down the field basic elevator drill, and he dropped his stick and picked it up. I saw it and I wanted to nearly die. but on the bright side, the judges overlooked it and we got a rank of 1,1,2 :-D. So I forgave him.

Well, this last season at an away game I was not feeling to well and did not say anything. So on the way marching back to the buss the path we were marching on became narrower and narrower until we were almost in the dirt, well there was a large pile of medium-sized stones off to the right of where I was marching. I did not see that one stone that rolled off onto the path and stepped and slid on it only to fall right into the big pile of rocks face first with my snare drum on. EVERYBODY except for the band members were laughing at me. Well I got over that but I somehow started a curse, the game after that at least 2 people fell and tripped, one being another snare drummer. We'll see if that continues next year too!

I've never really messed up too bad during a show, but this year for some reason there were a bunch of kids watching us practice our drum feature outside, and it was one of the first runs we'd done with our nice new Yamaha covers on. So, I go to put my sticks back in my bag, forgetting that the position of the bag is slightly different because of the covers, and completely miss the bag, sticks go flying onto the ground, while I was standing right in front of the kids.

Great story, I know.

(Then I found ten dollars... and I was completely naked the whole time.)

My most embarassing moment was either when we went to an away football game and somehow i forgot my bass drum harness and we had to borrow one from the other school or when we were marching in at a home game and I tripped on the curb and bass drum and stuff went flying i recovered and caught up though. Maybe some other events too lol.

My most embarassing moment was either when i totally forgot a post step in competition but we were moving fast and it was a split bass direction change so he couldnt tell what I missed; or it was my Freshman year as cymbals when we marched back to the pit for some trashcans i forgot to take my hat off, but I was in the middle of 2 others so it looked like a visual.

My most embarassing moment was freshman year at a competition i forgot the load the glockenspiel i was playing into the band trailer. . .and well i had to ask to borrow another school's glockenspiel for the competition. the band director wasn't too happy. ..

my second most embarassing moment was when i was performing a snare solo for some friends. . .and i had an allergic reaction to something ( i think that's what it was, it was an odd moment ) and i broke out in hives really, really bad. I tried just finishing the solo and playing through, but i turned beet red, and my skin started to burn really bad, so i stopped and took some medication. it was very awkward.

oo oo, and one more. This last year for a football game near halloween the marching band dressed up in costumes by section. My tenor section decided to be crossdressers, i wore my friends sister's skirt and a purplish low cut blouse, and pulled my hair (which is longish to begin with) back into a pony tail. and marched our show in a skirt, needless to say-it was a bit drafty. . .and my nylons were getting runs. . .oh by the way i'm guy if didn't already guess. the girl in my section got off a little easier by wearing a football jersey and jeans. . .geesh.

Last year, marching at homecoming. As we marched off the field, I tripped on one of those little orange pylon things that are in the end zone. Nobody but band members noticed, but it was still terribly embarassing.

The worst band moment in general, though...god. It was terrible. We were in concert band and I was playing bass drum, and in the middle of the song, the bass drum slipped out of the stand (it's really crappy) and since I was standing right next to it, one of the keys hit me in the stomach, scraped all the way down to my private area, caught on my junk, and pulled me the ground, then the drum proceeded to roll off the step (we have those riser-type things in our band room). Everyone stopped playing and just looked at me lying in pain on the floor and nobody but the percussionists knew what happened. It was terrible, it hurt soooooo badly that I couldn't even talk, I just sort of writhed for a while and tried to catch my breath.
