Hosbilt tenors / basses are, if not the absolute pinnacle of modern pipe band tenor drum, then the next best thing. The drums are light, project like a charm, and need no tools at all to tune. Initial setup can sometimes take a bit, but tuning on the fly becomes painless and the drums put out a beautiful sound.
The only complaint I have at all is that they do tend to react fairly sensitively to changes in weather / sunlight over time, so you do have to recheck pitches fairly often, but honestly, it's then a quick adjustment to fix. I wouldn't recommend *any* other tenor drum for a pipe band that can afford them. They're expensive, but in the hands of musicians that will care for them properly, they're more than worth it.
