Positive aspects of the product (pros): Durability, sound, feel
Cons: Occasionally got bad batches

We used these my first summer with the Cavaliers because the Remo Falams (I's) were simply not holding up. The very tight crimping in the flesh hoop paired with glue made these heads virtual "pull-proof". If we blew a head it was because the kevlar just finally ripped from the extreme tension we put these heads through. This was the early 90's where the desired snare sound was achieved by taking the top head tension up as far as it would go thanks to the technology of free-floating snare drums.

The sound was slightly warmer and allowed more snare response than the Remo Falams of that era. I think a large part of the sound difference was achieved by using thicker kevlar and leaving the bottom of the head natural, allowing the head to "breath" slightly.

Keeping in mind the extreme tension of this time period, the feel was still very much concrete-like compared to today's standards, but the Premier Tendura seemed to "give" a little more than the Remo Falams, making the playing surface less harsh to the hands.

I'd have rated this product a 10 had we not occassionally received bad batches of heads from time to time at Cavaliers and University of Kentucky. I was sad to see that Premier stopped making these heads and hope Remo's version of the Tendura has the same high quality. I have no idea what we paid for these heads since I was never involved in the buying process.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Premier Tendura may still be manufactured, at least carried in stock by dealors
Cons: the ring of the head scratches the hi tension metal bearing edge paint

I'm hardcore about the original premier tendura.
always was an issue to convince directors to buy them, but they last! we did not crank them to the point of flexing ur arm to get that extra torque but they were tight and crisp, definitely modern.
I'd assume that Premier would retain it's control of the original Tendura to keep their European drummers happy, especially jim kilpatrick, i wouldn't mess with him.
If you wanna pay the cash and order online, search for premier HTS dealors. You'll see legit tendura heads. I highly recommend trying to buy the real thing. The premier company is slowly repositioning itself in the market.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Very durable
Cons: Very hard on hands when tuned properly

For the past three years I've used the 13" version of this head on the Yamaha sFz drums of the percussion program that I taught. At first I cranked them up as most people would, however many of the kids, including myself when I played on the schools' drums, started getting some wrist pain. I loosened the heads to the point where they would give a little when pressed on by a finger, and that seemed to help.

These heads are very durable providing there were no manufacturer defects. The kids in the program abused the hell out of the heads, but none of them caved under the stress and are still in use on the drums to this day

While the heads really do sound good, I have found them to be too hard for extended use, at least with novice players.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Easy on the Hands (Nice feel), Durable, Not hard to tune
Cons: Availability, Pricing

This head rocks!

I only used falams II heads until this came around. Before I used the Tendura, the best sounding snare I've tuned was a falams with the dot. It has always been extremely difficult to make a falam top-and-bottom combo have a meaty snare response.

I just put a new one on these on the snare at the school and am very impressed on how easy to tune this was. This head seems to be alot more easier on the hands than your average cranked Falams as well. It has a mylar feel to it.

I love this original Tendura head. I want to order about 5 of them for my school just so I have some when everyone goes out of stock permamently.

I reccomend this head to anyone who has had difficulty making a double falam combo work. Leave the falam snare side on the bottom and throw this on top, and you've got a winning combo.
