Positive aspects of the product (pros): Good availability,
Cons: Large for small hands, Unbalanced weight may be an issue

I like my hardimon sticks. I do not abuse my sticks when playing, so the pair I have now has lasted me for many years now.

The hardimon sticks are fairly large, so beginners generally may have a hard time holding the stick and may experience more, or larger blisters when building up calouses. If treated correctly, these sticks should be durable and last a while.

Vic Firth claims that it has "perfect pairs" of sticks by matching them with sticks of the same weight. The perfect pair however is unfeasable because different hickory trees have different density. Because of this, I advise you that whenever you pick out a pair of sticks, hand pick them for an even feel, and generally, heavy pairs are more desirable because they are more dense and therefore will be more durable.

Also, since the Hardimon is such a common stick in the Marching market, it is usually easy to find a pair at any music vendor which sells drumsticks.

If you pick the right pair and you play without abusing the stick, this stick will do its job..

Positive aspects of the product (pros): durable
Cons:

One of the heavier stick on the market. Taping makes them that much heavier.

I have used the Ralph Hardimon model with the nylon tip exclusively with my line for a number of years, and have not had many problems. I'm not fond of the paint/coating of the newer version, but it doesn't matter too much when they are taped.

The balance seems to be OK if you tape the sticks with a little extra weight on the taper.

The durability factor was one of the reasons I used this model, however, the pairs I have been getting of late don't seem to be of the same quality of my original pair from 5 years ago which I am still using.

It is a decent stick but the quality seems to be on the downslope from past experience.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Feel good
Cons:

I like the feel of the Ralph Hardimons. When you get a well balanced pair, they can't be beaten. As far as durability goes, it depends on the show. During marching season I ran through them, but my show had a lot of rimshots. This current pair I have had for 2 months and other than a few dents, they are holding up well.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Nice rebound. Good bead
Cons: Some pairs can be unmatched.

This is a very good stick. Standard stick for most lines and individual players. It has a good quick rebound and a full sound. Althoughm, I have bought pairs in the past that were unmatched. But overall, an excellent stick...

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Awesome
Cons:

I used these sticks on a day to day basis...I have a 2 year old pair(they haven't broke cause i only play on pads with them) The ones i use at school are completely awesome, i don't think there's a better pair of sticks out there.

I had a pair my freshman year, and i played them to death, then at the first competition we get new pairs. The new pair seemed so much lighter, so i don't know if they've gotten lighter, or is that just me?

I'd suggest at least trying them, you can find them for $3.50 at Giardinelli(sp) It's possibly one of the best band stores, it's affiliated with www.musiciansfriend.com another awesome place! So thats just my input!

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Availablity, Great Rebound, General nice sound. Durable
Cons: some sticks have unbalanced weight. New finished paint.

Pros-
As stated before, this stick is pretty easy to find. Also, it has pretty good rebound. And it has a generally nice sound. It is also a pretty durable stick, provided no overaly abusive playing.

Cons-
I have noticed that it has a new paint job. It makes the stick less smooth.
Also, sometimes a pair can be unbalanced in weight.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Good feel, long lasting, good grip
Cons:

I started buying these sticks my 7th grade year, because they're the only sticks our snare line used, and still uses today. They're commonly reffered to ask marching sticks. So, here's my review.

The feel of these sticks is great. For smaller hands, yeah, I could see a problem with some blisters, but by time you're playing snare in high shcool, most likely your hands have gotten a little bigger. The sticks fit well into your hand. Because of the snug fit, it's a little harder to drop the sticks out of the blue, as with skinnier models. Also, bsides a good grip, these sticks rebound well, and sound great. I recommend you buy nylon tips for maximum rebound and sound. The wood just doesn't seem to do as good as nylon in this department.

And, mercy, do these sticks hold up. They are the longest lasting sticks I have ever seen. Sure, a stick is going to get a dent here, a chip there, but that's normal. These sticks, with proper care, can last for years. But, if your line plays a lot of rimshots, the sticks usually tend to break in half within a few weeks to a month.

The only problem I see lately is the paint on the wood and plastic tip models.(Plastic tips are white, nylon are sort of a green color) Not really a problem, but it always helps me to play when my sticks look nice. The logo tends to wear off with use in about a week.

A good product; I highly reccomend it.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Widely available, excellent rebound.
Cons: May be too big for begginers

This is absolutely my favorite stick. The rebound is excellent and the quality from VicFirth is extremely consistent. I love this stick. They are extremely durable and produce a full bodied sound.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): good stick for practice or young lines
Cons: hard to find a wieght matched set at the store

Overall i love these sticks ! My drumline has marched this for as long as i can remeber and for a young high school line these have held up great when they have been taped and taken care of. My only complaint to Vic Firth is that its very hard to find a truely matched pair of these at the store. The Problem gets worse when we order a bunch for our line through a catolog and when we get them we have to try to match sticks in wieght and feel to each other because the pair they come in usually don't match. Other than that i love the sound and durabilty i get with these and would recomend these to any player.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Good sound, good length, gets decent rebound from head
Cons: I don't exactly like the rebound the stick gets.

I'd definately recommend this product to anyone, but for outdoor marching. It's a great stick overall, but I think the rebound could be better, but that's due to the size and shape of the bead.

Cons: not too loud

I really like the feel of these sticks. they have awesome balance and great response, good for when you need to play fast. my drumline recently moved to the Tom Aungst model, which is a little bigger, but i still like the Ralphies better.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Nice rebound, full size stick
Cons: Little on the heavy side, especially if you like to tape your sticks

These are far by some of the greatest sticks I've played on. They are heavy, which have some upsides and some downsides. I wouldn't recommend them for indoor use, due to the full tip of these sticks. But they are great for outdoor use, as they make a nice crisp sound on Kevlar heads. A downside to these sticks is that they can be pretty heavy sticks if you tape yours. They also make good workout sticks for home use, as they are great on pads. I recommend this stick for outdoor playing, especially when you need to be loud for the crowd!
