Positive aspects of the product (pros): Great light feel. Easy to diddle with and easy to play singles with.
Cons: None as of yet

This stick has a great feel to it. I tryed this stick for a solo i played a couple weeks ago. I switched over because of the light feel, but excellent response to what i wanted.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Full sound, good low end control, durable shot area
Cons: Paint job gives horrible grip, less-than-stellar rebound

This is one beefy stick. It has a relatively short taper and produces a really full sound. It is really easy to control at low dynamic levels, and will last through many rim-shots. The trade off with the short taper is the fact that it gets pretty bad rebound compared to longer-tapered sticks. Vic Firth also decided to cover the stick in like 50 layers of thick paint, so the grip is really bad, and I'm a man who likes to leave the grip area untaped.

It is a decent stick, but I would recommend some other implements, such as the Ralph Hardimon, over it.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Great sound quality produced from a drum, excellent control at lower dynamic levels
Cons: not as much rebound as I would have hopedfor low stuff, but it makes you work on your chops more

I just bought these, and they are very nice. They feel wonderful, and fill up your hands without being too heavy. I recommend these for anyone with big hands, because they are very large. The only slight drawback is that they don't have much ebound on low stick-heights, but this can help you work on chops, so it is not necessarily a bad thing. These are defenitely worth your money.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): meaty, durable.
Cons: paint

out of the few sticks i've tried, these are my favorite.
they feel great, they produce a lot of volume
the short taper encourages chop building
i reccomend using a file or a knife and removing the paint at the grip area, because the sticks are slippery if your hands sweat

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Nice feel, great rebound, gives full sound
Cons: A little slippery, may feel strange at first

I bought my first pair of these at semifinals in Pasadena from the VF tent, and I haven't been able to stop using them since. I'm a tenor player, but whenever I work with the snares on my line, I bring a pair of these because I just can't use Hardimons anymore. The short taper gives it a little bit more weight toward the bead, which give great rebound and produces a nice, full sound. Simply put, they feel great, they're fairly durable, and they sound great. I'd recommend them to any snare line.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): good rebound
Cons: not the most durable stick ive ever used.

Over all, these sticks have nice rebound and good dynamics, the only thing i can say negative is when i used them in a parade they brok half-way through the parade(about an hour of playing, not including warm ups).

Positive aspects of the product (pros): terrific sound
Cons: rebound not ideal(for me).

I used Hardimons for a very long time, so the switch took a little getting used to. The one thing that I LOVE about this stick is the sound...a loud, focused crack. They're not as fast as some other sticks I've used, and dont rebound quite as easily. Great chop builder though. I actually prefer this stick to Hardimons now.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): "Downstroke" stick, druable, amazing sound
Cons: paint. . .that's about it

In my FS-2 review I said if you wanted a heavier stick to try some VF stick. THIS IS THE STICK I MEANT. Absolutely amazing. My writer writes a lot of crazy accent parts and these sticks want to play downstrokes. I've had trouble with sticks not wanting to stay down (I know I'm a lot of the problem) but these sticks really fixed that for me. The sound is just beautiful, gets you that nice pop instead of a longer undefined tone.

PAINT!!!! Vic Firth hates us for some reason. They're probably sitting in their office laughing at the kids with overly sweaty hands (like me) but that's about all I can find wrong with this stick.

Paint ruined the perfect score Sad

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Feel, taper, bead, sound, weight...
Cons: Color

I absolutely love my SSJ's. They're excellent sticks, a bit lighter that the Hardimons. Of course another great quality stick out of VicFirth! My line this year is switching over to Scott Johnson's as opposed to the Hardimons and I couldn't be happier. The only downfall is I don't like how the color contrasts with the white tape that we put on them, but that's not really a problem, that's just me being picky. 10/10, easily!

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Nice balance, quick response, great feel, good sound
Cons: deteriorates quickly once wet.

I liked this stick well enough to march with it and not only practice with it but take them to the field. A standard tape job did not affect their performace or balance point at all and worked very well. All around a very good medium density stick.
