Description: The POWERSTROKE™ concept of adding an underlay ring was pioneered by Remo. The POWERSTROKE™ 3 head is a single ply ambassador™-weight head with an underlay ring at the outer edge of the head to subtly dampen unwanted over-ring. This design creates a near-perfect balance of response and tone control that has quickly made POWERSTROKE™ 3 one of Remo's most popular drumhead models.

Powerstroke 3 heads come in a coated or clear finish (with or without a dot) and are available in other flavors.
This head is a thick 1 ply designed for heavy hitting on a drumset snare.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Strong & Durable
Cons: Coating Reduces easily, High tension may test the strength of your snare lugs

(Picture has "dot" in center, i tested the head without the dot.)

This was one of my first drumheads for my set. I used it on a generic steel snare drum that comes with most budget drumsets.
After cranking the head reasonably high, the normally horrible sounding generic snare drum sounded great. It sounded like a new drum.

The drum sounded great, but had a little overtone (despite the undertone ring underneath the head). Also, for this generic drum, this head required way too much tension (I like my tension have a high pitch-short attack) for my drum. This head is durable. I have popped many lugs (The generic steel drum had 6 lugs) and the head hasnt broken yet.

Although good for heavy hitting, the coating did seem to come off a little faster than other heads i've played with.

Bottom line:
Good and durable head for heavy hitting if you have a snare which can handle its high tension.
