Description:
Designed for the intermediate to advance rudimental drummer, THE NEXT LEVEL is a comprehensive method for any player who desires to take his or her drumming beyond their current abilities.
Starting with the fundamental techniques, Jeff Queen describes in detail all aspects of approaching the drum: from how to properly grip the sticks to applying the Moeller and Velocity Strokes to achieve maximum sound quality and endurance.
Drawing from his vast drum corps, solo performance and teaching experience, Jeff details the basic techniques that comprise contemporary rudimental styles:
-TWO HEIGHT CONTROL
-TIMING CONTROL
-DIDDLE CONTROL
-BUZZ CONTROL
-FLAM CONTROL
For the advanced player, Jeff Queen will take you to the next level with:
-HYBRID RUDIMENTS
-BACKSTICKING AND TRICKS
-ACHIEVING SPEED
-SOLO CONSTRUCTION
Jeff finishes the book with his own Championship Solo, TRIBUTE; which gives us an inside perspective of the skills of a true master.
THE NEXT LEVEL is destined to become one of the all time great books on the subject of rudimental drumming. All students and teachers will benefit from this excellent resource!
Basically if you like to drum, this book is for you. Jeff covers almost everything you would want to know about rudimental snare drumming and what it takes to play your best.

Positive aspects of the product (pros):
GREAT Exercises, applies to ALL skill levels, Has it all, Book doesn't fall apart
Cons:
The order of the book is a little wierd, Mostly Exercises
First off, this is a great book. It has it all, from the basics of grip to rudimental hybrid breakdowns. It starts out on the fudemental grip and ends on stick tricks and his solo, Tribute. The exercises are fun, challenging, and interesting. It even has stuff for the most advanced players in it.
Some of the exercise patterns can get a little old. Some of the stuff can be pretty ridiculous. And by that I mean hard. But this book will take you to a higher level than Rudimental Logic. If you could play through this whole book then you would be a great drummer. This can make anyone of any skill level a better drummer.
Another thing I don't like is that is it mostly exercises. The only non exercise is his solo. But it has great practice tecnique, and a good perspective. I would DEFENITALY recommend this product. Anyone who is a drummer should check this book out. It has stuff for EVERYONE.

In my opinion this is the best snare drum book out there. This book is useful not matter what drum you play. This book has it all in it, flams, drags, buzzes, two-height, and even Tribute. It's all that and a bag of potatoe chips. He explains everything well and gives tons of execises to make you better. I highly recommend this book.

Positive aspects of the product (pros):

Very in-depth starts off slow then builds up
Cons:

Should have like a mini solo for each section to practice
This is a great book, if you're new to the snare drum it immediately tells you traditional technique. It goes chapter by chapter on what you should learn and ends off with a extremely challenging solo "Tribute" this is a great book that is for anyone and even teaches you back sticking and back sticking exercises. the only con I have is it should have a mini solo after each chapter instead of just straight exercises which kind of gets boring but still fun. If you buy this item I recommend buying "Playing With The Sticks" Jeff Queens dvd, it goes well with this book

has indepth technique instructions, great for the begining drummer
Cons:
Repetitive, boring
It's a great book to learn technique and learn the various aspects of rudimental drumming, exercise patterns get repetitive and boring quickly but the information is excellent, I substitute different exercises I know of my own and other books to keep things interesting and less repetitive, thus making it more fun.
Overall a great book with darn good information about rudimental drumming
