Description:
|
Our steel Artisan triangles sound rich and dynamic. E-Nickel plating doesn't interfere with natural overtone production, and provides resistance against corrosion. Each size produces a shimmering and consistent overtone spectrum throughout its entire dynamic range.

This review only concerns the 4" model, which I hand-picked from Lone Star.
This triangle is great for delicate passages. With a light Stoessel, it really blends well instead of cutting through. It shimmers above the ensemble without forcing itself through the mix, like many others. It sounds very controlled, with less overtones than Grover and more than Abel.
The only drawback is that it isn't very versatile, but that isn't what you buy a 4" triangle for. It is a specialized instrument for super-sweet delicate sounds.
For example, in the Planets, I used it for the soft little dings in Jupiter, but played the big rolls with my 6" Grover Super-Overtone (also hand-picked from LSP, along with a 6" Abel). Tone-wise, I prefer the 4" Artisan/6" Grover combo to the Abel, which I feel sounds a little sterile in comparison. Abel, however, is the SD1 of triangles and I use it when I need to execute a wide range of dynamics with one instrument -- something the Black Swamp won't do (but again, that's not what 4" triangles are for).
Anyway, I really like this triangle and I had the High School I work with purchase one as well.
