Description: Unlike ear muffs and solid ear plugs, the Sonic Valve II hearing protectors allow you to hear total sounds and conversations. They are designed with a series of noise restrictors and moving diaphragms which makes it particularly efficient in reducing the amplitude and energy content of impulse noises reaching the ear drum.

Generally used by musician's, pilots, race car drivers and industrial workers, these devices are designed to allow the ear canals to be open for air circulation until sufficient noise levels activate the patented valve system to close down and protect the inner ear from incurring hearing damage.

Pros: Lowers volume, does not muffle
Cons:

This is one of the best ear plugs i ever used.
They really lower the volume of any sound.
The best thing is, it only starts working when you have high volume level that can hurt your ear.

For example, when i plug these in and play the piano, i can't hear the difference between not having these on and having them on.
When i start playing my snare and do some loud rimshots, they reduce the volume so it does not damage the ear.

It does not dampen speech either.

One of the best ear plugs for the price!

Pros: Comfort, sound dampening effects
Cons:

These are the best plugs I have ever worn period. I have used these earplugs for both percussion and target shooting and have been pleased in both. They do a great job of filtering sound to protect your ears from excesivly loud noises, but they do not inhibit your ability to hear like most foam plugs.

Pros: Does not muffle speech, no annoying rolling
Cons: Expensive

Amazing. These only reduce intensity where it matters. You don't have to take them out constantly to hear the instructor between runthroughs. They are kinda expensive, though, but hey, you get what you pay for.

Pros: Noise reduction, comfortable, reusable.
Cons: Somewhat pricey.

These are excellent earplugs. I like how you can still hear people talking to you, but it reduces a lot of drum noise. They are also comfortable.

Pros: great sound protection, ability to hear instructor
Cons: potentially uncomfortable

Great earplugs usually used for shotgun shooting translate perfectly to drumming. They are great at blocking out high volume sounds and leaving the lower volume alone. These make it easier to clean the snareline, and your ears don't ring afterwards!

Note: I found these uncomfortable to wear as they were going too deep into my ear. It mostly depends on ear canal sizes I think. I just bit off the top of them (down to the second ring) during band camp and now they work great and are comfortable for me!
