Pros:
|
Very good resource for instructors who have little or no cymbal experience

Cons:

Demonstration clips could be longer.

Having been almost exclusively focused on the rudimental drumming and advanced keyboarding aspects of marching percussion for the past couple of decades, I had never gotten any education on how to execute the vast majority of marching cymbal techniques.
I bought this video about 2 years ago. In a very short period of time (it is fairly short video) I was able to gain the basic skills to starting building a very respectable, above average cymbal line.
The inside info. about how to properly execute a crash-choke was (for me) one of the best tips on the video and I would've paid the price of the video for that advice alone!
Having said that, I do think the video needs to be updated a bit. The demonstration clips tend to be pretty short. The video quality could be better (especially with current video technology). Additionally, it would be nice expand the demonstrations to include some more contemporary visuals to compliment the auditory aspects of the instrument.
Bottom line: If you're relatively clueless about teaching marching cymbal technique, this video will give you enough information to get your cymbal program off the ground and out of the dark ages!
