Description:
|
Multi-Timbre Snare design offers multiple tonal possibilities in one drum.
Additional snare assembly
A separate snare assembly underneath the batter head gives you more distinct sounds in one drum, superior sensitivity at lower dynamic levels, and additional "zones" of tone color on the batter head.
On/off lever
Allows for fast and easy switching between sounds.
Self-tensioning, steel wire upper snares
Delivers a bright tone with crisp articulation and solid projection, and clearly differentiates from the bottom snare sound.
Self-leveling mechanism
Keeps the upper snares at the proper height for a consistent sound.
13" Model
Offers high pitch, lighter weight and focused sound with precise articulation; good for indoor use.
14" Model
Offers dynamic, full-bodied sound with articulation.
SFZ specifications
All other specs are based on the Sforzando series marching snare drum (see Yamaha SFZ for more details).

The mts snare is absolutely amazing. The double snare aadds an entire new dimension to the drum and thousands of new tuning possibilities. I think the repsonse is terrific and the drum has not detuned yet. The drum is average in weight and is terrific in ppp and fff. I highly recomend this drum!

I love this snare. The sensativity is remarkable. Even when playing at the edge of the head you get great snare response. It works just as well indoor as it does out. (not "muddy")
It is also VERY crisp and clear. Every note can be heard with no question.
The hardware is very well-made and is expected to last a lifetime.
However, there are 2 small downsides...
They can get very expensive depending on where you buy it. I got mine USED at $400, which I later found out was an amazing deal since it had only been used indoors for 3 months.
By comparison, it is quite heavier than Premier and Pearl marching snares, however, its quality beats them both.
If you have $400-$700, buy it. If you have close to that much, save up. This snare will stay with you for a lifetime.
