VF Small Set
HeavyHitter Quadropad – Large (HHPQL)
• Options for 1 or 2 spock drums on small or large Quadropad (spock installation instructions included).
• Drum spacing is to scale with real drums - rim to rim. The pads are spaced from the playable part of each drum, just inside of the drum shell's bearing edge.
• Spock drum pads are made with thinner gum rubber than the 4 main quad drums, allowing for a more authentic feel.
• Open cell foam rubber mounted on backside for the ultimate in skid-resistance.
• The pads are laid out accurately and cut for ALL playing areas; both standard and scrape.
• Quadropad Small (HPPQS): quads with a 10" #1 drum.
• Laminates for the Quadropad Small are also available (see below).

Bottom rubber pads are not glued on well. Had to buy laminates seperately (they used to come with laminates already on and an extra set but now they have nothing). A neutral thing is that you have to put on the spock drums yourself. A

I think this pad is really nice. I've used the yamaha and the reelfeel tenor pads also. Reelfeel is a nice pad but it doesnt match the feel of the quadropad with laminates. The quadropad is almost perfect to scale when placed on real tenors. It mightve been nice if they put some zones down (like reelfeel does). The biggest reason i went with this pad over the others is that Lakeshoremen gets a 66% discount on all Vic Firth products.

Vic Firth drastically increased the price when they took over manufacturing for this product, and they made the laminates a separate item to buy. Still, this is the most realistic quad pad out there with regards to head response and size. Coupled with Quad Logic, this is a very effective (and silent) way to get good.

I just got my new pad in. It is the greatest pad ever. I had the RealFeel one for a while but ebayed it. The Vic Firth Heavyhitter is like going from a Ford escort to a Cadillac, it is definately a step up from the RF version. The playing areas offer you all playable zones, its loud enough to hear when I suck out, the laminates make for a realistic feal and all around good time. I said the price is a pro, because it is WAY CHEAPER than a set of drums, but gives you the same feeling, and same zones as your drums. I didn't mind paying the extra $$, it will pay off in what I can transfer from the pad to the drums! Thanks to HeavyHitter and Vic Firth. I may not sleep tonight!

After reading a comparison review by Tim Jackson I decided to buy this practice pad. I am glad I did. The playing areas are spaced almost excatly the same at the real drum. I say almost exactly because everybody has a different spacing setup. One of the problems I had with this pad is the lack of rebound or response when using a heavy mallet. Another complaint I have is the "spock" drums. They are hard to measure and install, because you are not given a specific spot to measure from. You are just told to measure from the bottom of side of a specified drum. Once you get past installing the "spock", which really isn't that hard..just annoying, you will have a very nice practice pad to use when you can't play the real thing.

This is by far the best quad practice pad available. I have played on the Yamaha,RealFeel and Xymox pads and none of them can even compare to the realism of the Quadropad. The laminates add a good texture to do sweeps on, but are expenseve. I would have given a 10, but the Heavy Hitter pads are too much of a heavy hit to the wallet.

This is a great pad, though it did have more than a couple of things I didn't like about it.
I found out right away that using FT-1's on the pad were hard with the laminates on it. Also, it was easy to chip the paint of while playing. I couldn't hit the rims while playing either, because the rims weren't really there. I hated hated having to buy the laminates separate. They should've included them!
I gave it a nine still though because it is an awesome pad, even with all of its flaws. I still love it, though it could've been better.

This is a great pad. Its design makes it just like the real thing, without the same sound though. I'm new to tenors, and this pad is helping me to increase my ability and technique as far as playing is concerned. I recommend this pad to anyone who plays the tenors or the ambition to do the same. I have a long ways to go, but the pad is helping me every step of the way.

I learned tenors on this pad and its a very good pad. The laminates are a great feature. I put it on a piano stand and its a perfect stand for the job. I travel between two house with it frequently and it doesn't hold up very well on the edges. Over all I would recomend this pad for anyone except if you going to travel with it.
