Positive aspects of the product (pros): Great balance, good feel, solid wood
Cons: Thin bead which could decrease head life.

These wood mallets feel excellent in the hands. They are very well balanced and shaped for a very comfortable fit. There is very little vibration that gets transfered back towards the player when striking the playing surface (drum or pad) and thus, less fatigue on the player.

The notched fulcrum takes some getting used to, especially for those players who like to choke up on the mallets when they play. It locks you into a consistant hand placement, which is definately beneficial for newer players.

My only real complaint about the mallets is that the design of the mallet head results in a very small surface area that impacts the drum head. This can cause the drumheads to fail at a quicker rate than with a mallet such as the VF MT-1 or even Innovative's own FT-2 series, which have wider heads. While not normally and issue, for groups with limited funding who can not afford to purchase multiple sets of heads for one season, this may not be the mallet for them.

Positive aspects of the product (pros):
    Cons:

We used these mallets in camp because all of our promark mallets were torn up and/or broken. We LOVED them. They feel so great in your hands. The only real problem we experienced was the screw holding the head of the mallet on coming loose, but it wasnt anything we couldnt fix. We would still use these mallets, but we are sponsered by promark. These are great mallets.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): GREAT tenor mallets
Cons: notched grip might feel funky for players with smaller hands

I am truely impressed with these mallets after marching with Vic Firth's MT1s i liked them but i knew there was something better out there. These are it !! The sond quality from these is great, they never slip in my hands because they are notched, and have held extremely well when taped and taken care of. I would totally recommend these mallets to any serious tenor player of any age. These are the true tools of the trade.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): good rebound, durable for a wooden mallet, fulcrum notch
Cons: wooden, head is a little thin

I usually prefer aluminum mallets to wooden ones but I got a pair of these for free so I had to try them out. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. They got really good rebound, pulled good sound out of the drums and were surprisingly durable. The fulcrum notch is also a plus.

The only negative thing I can find is that the head is a little thin. It tends to wear the heads a little quicker than with my sticks or with my other mallets.

So if you like wooden mallets these are definitely for you.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): fulcrum, sound quality
    Cons: hammers

    Ok so the good.
I used these in high school, corps, and college band and for all the performance mediums they were consistently good mallets. They don't break easily which is greatly due to the shaft getting bigger where you hit the shots at. I think its a great idea. The fulcum notch is great, it always keeps your hands in the right spot. They produce some awesome sound quality because of the weight and the head design. Some people said that the sound is too thin, but I disagree. I think the sound is adequate, and blends well. I like these mallets better than some of IP's indoor mallets. They are more balanced than the indoor models which gives them a good playability.

The only thing that I don't like is how easily the heads break. We used them at Rutgers one day for a practice and we all broke at least one head. They are beefy which is great, but the players need to be a little more in tune with how hard they are playing, and where on the head for that matter.

But I would give them an 8 because they are great mallets. A little heavy, but I think they are underrated.
